so its because its not terran like? as far as i can see the new weapons being suggested here are all use by humans and not adavance high tech aliens in other settings sci fi or not. resident evil 2 has an electric gun which seem to be effective against biological units like zombies. lol. i think we need to be more open and creative in adding up and designing weapons for SOME not all terran units. dino crisis 2 has nice set of weapons and yet they dont look flashy or high class or exagerated futuristic. the thing is starcraft is sci fi so giving terran also 1 or 2 artistic sci fi style weapons(not necessarily lasers) rather than realistic ones is a bonus.

I like the Battlecruiser's lasers because, well a capital ship should have a strong weapon, and lasers seem to be their century's style. I like how the Terrans don't have too many lasers because then they would be like the Protoss with their Colossus and Warp Rays.

I think it would add to make the BC more rough as I think the terrans are. And I'm not against high-tech weapons, I just think this would look cooler.

I'll post a few pics of a contemporary marine frigate firing. As you can see those canons pack quite a punch!

Hey, I read that article too about the US Navy developing a rail gun. One question I have is that, if I am not mistaken that projectile being fired has no gun powder/ chemical propellent, and so why is there so much flame?

I get what you're saying about the gap between protoss and terran, but lasers have always been a terran thing. Protoss have other technologies, such as photons.

yeah OK, I can see what your point is. But what I see it different.

Sure, We as human have the technology of lasers, BUT! We don't have the technology of lasers as weapons... We have laser-pointers, laser-writers, laser-instruments(surgery) and similar.

Well that's my point. And sure we all fantasize about running around shooting lasers

The same reason meteors do: Heat from air friction. The thing is traveling at hypersonic speeds so the friction is great ehough to cause the surface of the round to vaporize.

That would be absolutely sick if the Battlecruisers got rail guns. It would fit the Terran style and be freaking awesome too!

But, if Blizzard wants to be mean like that and keeps the lasers, maybe there could be an upgrade at least to rail guns.

An upgrade seems like a good way to solve this. It has been said before: railguns are actually more advanced then lasers if you look at the stuff that is required to make them work properly. It even makes sense lore-wise if you look at it that way, since it is just the logical next step in terran development. Also, railguns are less shiny, they are all about brute force in massive projectiles. That fits the battlecruiser really well, as it should be the flagship -lol- of the brute force that the terrans tend to use. Leave that essence of purity to the protoss and let the terrans stay like they should be: though and unpolished.

the battlecruisers is badass no need to change anything. and if you want some back up reasoning IMHO giving them hardcore rail guns and projectiles would make them LESS in many department.
