How many evolutions should their be for the mutualisk?

  1. I don't use them, I'd only mutalisk for air assualts.

@ Wlck742 , sorry man, I disagree, after playing Zerg for so many years, the entire usefulness of the mutalisk is its speed and strength in numbers. Even that 4 extra seconds it would take to get to the enemy base will often fail a mutalisk rush. All about speed/timing.

Yup I must agree with Joneagle_X to disagree with you Wlck742. I think mutas are quite perfect as is, and they always carry the potential of their evolved aspects no matter what we end up having in SC2. Making the opponent pull out his hair then go from red HP to full HP evolved aspect for more hurt is pretty badass. I want the muta to be great like it was in SC1, but I don't want it to be OP.

Also, while I think the devourer is the best AA air unit, Zerg players that use only devourers for AA, no matter how many they have, do not fully understand the race.

    Re: Mutualisks

you only need few devours and the rest mutas, all devours is weak AA and it's just waste of resources

The exception would be if "all devourers" is not great in total number, and you use hydras in conjunction with devs. Using hydras on acid spore infected targets yield excellent results, but require slightly better micro.

Good luck taking down Carriers without a combination of a large number of devourers and skillful handling of scourge and hydralisks.

I take carriers down with just hydras all the time. A few devs and some mutas also do the job nicely. Plague is also good if you have filers near by.

I personally never use scourges to take down the fat blimp. Scourges are reserved for things like the Terran fat blimp.

Lol I used them in a massive group usually. Does some serious damage to interceptors if you've got money lying around.

I liked to burrow my hydras and wait until the Carriers passed over. You get free targeting of the main carrier body w/o clicking and a few shots off before they realize what's going on.

Quickly brings a group of Carriers down to none.

I only used Devs in the case of corsairs or Carriers or a combo.

    Re: Mutualisks

devour has worse dps than muta, you only need half a dozen devours to splash the acid acid spore, and you can spend the extra resource on more mutas.

this is especially true against carrier since all their interceptors tend to concentrate fire on a single target, resulting in massive overkills, so the devs extra hp is not as useful against carriers

Good Scott! A mutalisk mating with a queen!!! That would produce a being slightly more hideous and vile than Rosie O'Donnell

Yay for more evolutions! It fits the zerg theme: Just keep evolving...
I hope we get this third evolution which costs a lot, but makes something like a Battlecruiser or a Carrier, with high hp and attack power. Maybe it can fire out lots of glave worms... lol...

having 3 might be much. just give the ultralisk/new ultralisk unit 2 extra mutations.

i can't imagine how a puny muta would evolve into a carrier sized monstrosity, maybe if few mutas merged together...

maybe like 2 templars, 2 mutas can merge into something quite mighty, but it costs some additional cash too. Oh and by the way, why cant 2 archons merge? :p

Yeah, but it's like a sacrafice ritual thing or something, with the mutalisk, it's just sticking skin against skin and having extra organs around.. Two hearts, two brains, four livers... Lol.
