I woke up at 4:47am. Considering I determine my own working hours, that is a bit harsh. So anyway, it was some rattling, and even though it was familiar, I just couldn't pinpoint it. Then I heard it again, like small marbles in a plastic bottle... and then it hit me. I dashed into the bathroom and there it was :D the bottle standing upright, the mouse couldn't jump out, and the rattling was the leftover popcorn I put in it a couple of days ago. I have to say it was very cute, especially from up close. Anyway, I slowly walked out into the garden and let it out there... I hope I didn't wake up the neighbour for them to see it. Now I wish I took some pictures or something... meh.

Well something came back last night and I can only assume it was my mouse as I heard the distinct gnawing from the kitchen and the pantry door is missing a corner. Regardless, I did win something from my previous endeavour - I know I gave it a chance, so now my conscience is clear should I hear the click that snaps its spine in two and makes it writhe violently for a few seconds before dying a slow and painful death.

    Dustin shreds mices to pieces.

If you catch the lil' bugger again, maybe keep it as a pet? You seem to like it so, and you'll know it's safe, fat, and not about to cut of one of your hands.

I once kept a mouse that I captured as a pet. It was cute but eventually escaped.

Try to find something with a lid in the middle to put him in.

It ate the bait without triggering either of the traps. A worthy foe indeed.

Also, keeping it as a pet is not an option. Firstly, said owner is here and secondly I'd need to clean the tank whatever so I'd not only need to catch it but make sure it doesn't escape meanwhile, etc... too much hassle. Maybe I would've been better off with a one-way doored trap and just bike a few streets away and let it go. We'll see.

Then just set a standard kill trap. It's a quick painless death... if it hits right.

Or you can release it into "the wild". It's gonna come back into to contact with humans because that is a rodent's primary source of food. AKA, some one else will kill it. Maybe with the poison that makes it hemorrhage internally for a day.

Even if you don't see it die, doesn't mean sound waves don't exist when a tree falls in the woods and no one is around.

Dude, be real. Unless you keep it yourself, it's gonna be killed. Or get eaten by a snake or feral cat. May as well not let it suffer and use a quick kill trap. You'll see the corpse, but, you'll know it went quick and painless.

The traps set are traditional killing ones. And releasing it and having it get eaten by something seems more meaningful than throwing perfectly good source of food in the bin. I haven't considered the poison thing though. No sightings as of yesterday night so I'm not sure what's going on right now lol.

    DON't POISON!

Bleeding out internally for a day must be a terrible way to go. If anything eats it afterword will injest that poisen,

If you feel so bad about it dieing in a conventional trap and being thrown away... just feed the body to someone else's pet.

I'm not very animal rights (**** whales, those Japanese sailors need an income to feed their human children)... poison is just cruel and renders the corpse unconsumable for other animals.

**** POISON! Bio warfare is frowned upon for many reasons.

I never said I was considering poisoning it, I said I didn't consider the poison thing (factor) that you mentioned.
