Missiles! Not lasers!

im so noob.. so rail guns are lasers.

yah i saw the thor having this sight light laser thingy. but i thought it was only a guide light not lasers. i hope they make both lasers of the cobra and thor look POWERFUL!

Rail guns are not the same as lasers. Rail guns use electrical energy to drive the projectile using magnetic pressure.

 

The viking air does seem too warcraft 3-ish in how the missiles look.

It should fire at a semi-steady rate alternating between each salvo and firing small precise rockets like the ones in the salvoes, not the fucking yellow bumblebee's it fires now

i know, but the projectile fired from cobras in-game is a red, laser-like beam. i didnt mean that the attack acually was a laser, just looked like it.

 

Goliaths had a missile simliar to that (but less pronounced), compared to wraiths/missle turrets.
Accelerating "ballistic" missiles would be definately cool.

One last point of siege tanks : A very important part of the siege tank is the instant-hit factor that maximizes it's damage + splash even against oncoming threats (like marines or ghost) Showing a projectile will only slow it down and be an indirect nerf. I'm not sure if im' for trading instant hit for slightly higher damage, thought it'd open up new possible gameplay mechanics (ie w3 catapults absolutely suckin against moving targets as opposed to stationary forces)

 

If ur talking about from the terran demo I belive that was from the Thor, not the cobra.

 

this sounds dumb, but which is powerful a laser or rail gun? assuming they have the same length and width. i have really no idea about rail guns. yes im lazy to research about it.

 

Depends on the strength and intensity of the laser.

 

@brc9210 - You're absoultely correct. Two lasers can have the exact same width, but one be multitudes more intense that the other. What may be 5 cm wide and barely burn a piece of wood could be 1 mm wide and slice through diamonds.

a rail gun is probably stronger than a laser, since it works exactly the same as a normal machine gun, but instaed of a charge its magnetism, which means that you should be able to drive the projectile alot faster, and the only reason cobras have a trail is becuase it would look rubish if it was nothing.

also i believ that the viking does fire missles, but you can only see the afterburner of the missle.
which i believe is alot like real life,
i dont really like the vicking to much anyway, to much like a mix of thunderbird 2 and that spaceshuttle transformer.

 

They don't look like lasers.. And their sound is also great I think. I only think those rotors doesn't fit the Starcraft universe. And for plasma torpedo, yeah, that is like a yamato gun, just in hundreds of little beams.
I like it. Also I like the idea of choosing the ability for each BC Go on Blizzard!
