I'm nowhere near as deep into metal as most of you guys, but I listen to a little bit here and there...

right now I'm listening to System of a Down (numetal, but they are so unique that it seems wrong to tie them down to one genre)
    and Rammstein (german industrial)

I personally skip from almost all genres, don't think thats a bad thing. Metal isn't one of my strong points though, about the only band I would listen to would be System of a Down.

I love all kinds of metal! I am such a metal freak I might infact be magnetic.

I listen to Metallica, Slipknot, Steel Dragon (I know its a fictional band), Saxon, Manowar and loads more.

Well, not in this part of the world. Basically mp3s have replaced all CDs. I would have to order them from somewhere else.

I live in the same part of the world as you (just check where you lived), and honestyle I find the statement about the cd's and the mp3's complete and utter bollocks.

Don't want to be a pain in the ass, but SOAD man. SOD (Stormtroopers of Death) is a legendary Thrash metal band.

I've never heard of Dethklok, are they similar to System of a Down?

I have to say though, I wouldn't listen to music from a band similar to System of a Down unless they had messages as strong as SoaD does

anybody like Rammstein? Where's the German-industrial-rock lovin'?

Man, Dethklok is the most BRUTAL metal band of all time. Words cannot describe 'em. They have a Myspace Music page, so you can listen.

And Rammstein is cool....All their power chords sound the same though....Not much variation between songs. And their lyrics are often quite disturbing. But I like 'em.

one of my favorite lyrics of all time is from the song "Rein, Raus," which means "In, Out" ^^

    I am the rider,
    You are the horse,
    I climb on
    we ride off
    you moan
    I whisper to you
An elephant in the eye of a needle

    I nearly wet myself

Soo.... anyone like Hair metal? lol. Motley Crue, Poison, Wasp, Ratt, Skid Row, Slaughter, Warrant, Great White, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Ozzy?

Personally i cant stand all these death metal bands. Grindcore, Hardcore, Melodic Death, etc.

They all fit into the category of "Cant Understand Lyrics" for me.

Dont get me wrong, i like heavy. Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Late Judas Priest. But theres just something about Lamb of God that gives me that... "eww, these guys suck, i wanna throw up" feeling.... Oh ya... its the singing.... if you can really call that singing. Most rock nowadays is all about "ya... im cool... i tune my guitar down 6 1/2 steps and make growly noises into the mic, ima start a death metal band." I wish rock was more like in the 80's and early 90's. When the guitarists could actually play, and the singers could actually sing, and the drummers could actually drum. but ya...enough of bashing Death metal, how bout that Hair metal ;).

Well, I don't listen to Grindcore myself, but there's more to death and melodeath than grunting incomprehensible lyrics and playing in Drop E. Hair metal was fun, but some of it just lost all of its charm, and so Nirvana came and mercilessly killed it. The few new hairy bands nowadays are a breath of fresh air, though. I liked The Darkness while it lasted. ^_^

And I can't believe that you're a Metalocalypse fan, Fenix! ;D Of, joy, I thought I was the only one.

If you think hardcore is in any way connected to death metal your waaaay off. Offcourse there are some crossover bands but hardcore is more punk related than metal related. Also vocally/lyrically its a whole world of difference, the singers scream but are most of the time quite understanable and the lyrics usally go about stuff like family, friends, honour, love, integrity, etc. Brrr, your biased opinion (and ignoring the facts :p) gives me the chills.

Btw, also grindcore is more punk related, many people confuse grindcore (which is a genre caming out of the hardcore scene, hence the name grindCORE) with goregrind or deathgrind
