    As I said already, it all depends on how the games measured damage. Maybe 1 damage in SC = 2 damage in DoW. Maybe 1Hp in DoW counts for 2Hp in SC. For this reason I beleive we will never know the answer to this 1 on 1 deul.

    why are people arguing about this is the first place? you little sister can kill 200 marines because she can smash the computer.. this is stupid

    Starcraft marine would win. Because War40k Space marines look like toys I used to play with when I was a kid and can by no means fly by any real sci-fi fan. SC marines overpower them from the design and originality aspect 10:1. In general, SC pwns the tacky War40k universe. End of that discussion.

    Moving on to marine. How useful do you suppose the marine upgrade will be and how will it affect terran gameplay?

    WHAT marine upgrade? They have plenty...
    The range upgrade
    The shield upgrade
    The stimpack upgrade
    and perhaps even the bayonet upgrade.

    with shield m&m can even pwn lurkers, if lurkers don't improve.

    I think it makes sense for the marines to have shields. Don't SWAT teams use bullet proof shields against ranged projectiles?

    How about this? They use their shield when they are under attack by ranged attacks?

    Or, it could be an ability sort of like the swordsmans defend or w/e in WC3.

    I'm trying to find a way to help marines ranged wise with out canceling the melee weakness of the marines... It isn't working.

    i already suggested that lol. it would be unbalanced because combine the sheild ability with stimpacks and then the marine is uber. lol

    i supposed the other races will also get improvements to counter the shielded marine, like zealot's charge. also the marine seems very weak atm in all the demo videos marines are slaughtered like sheep.

    Yah, they have to demonstrate units on something... LOL

    True about the other teams having units to make it fair. If the shield is armor to only ranged then it wouldn't change the fact that they have a natural weakness to the protoss zealot. CHARGE!!!

    Making the shield defense against ranged would be stupid since the main enemies of the Marine are melee attackers. It should have no affect against ranged attackers but allow them to block melee strikes in between bursts of weapons fire

    Yah, but if they canceled out the marines weakness... Then it becomes unfair for zealots and zerglings...

    I just don't see what will additional 10hp change in how the marine is being used. Maybe I've missed something but this is what it looks like to me:

    vs Protoss - marines wont be used, like in SC1, for same reason - psi storm, and now maybe even because of colossus
    vs Terran - no marines there either mostly because of siege tanks. And if that wasn't enough theres thor artillery bombardment, bc plasma torpedos and banshee splash dmg vs ground.
    vs Zerg - now we have yet to see what the new zerg can do vs marines but I guess this upgrade would be marginally useful here. But remember that firebats had 10hp more than marines and 1armor more and they still died just as easely against lurkers.
