The more assets we have the better. We can still apply anims and avatars of newer units to older ones. Plus a good portion of the old units still have animations like the older flashy Terran units.

They should also throw in unused and cut structures and if possible doodads.

    Especially that flying Terran base.

Seriously Beta and Alpha assets are fun to go through. Its like an archeology of its own. Its exciting and fun inserting a beta unit in your game. I enjoy doing that a lot.

Basically all of the alpha and beta assets if possible. That's why they should consider the download option. It gets really big at the end.

I think what he meant is that, it should an option like: free for all, melee, user map settings, custom races, etc...

that way, people looking for a good melee SC2 game won't have to expect people who want to use a custom race. So having a section for the custom races would work best, because you can still chose any map you want and play with any race or custom race. or something like that.

YAY. I'm glad I didn't restart this thread.
    First things first:
    1. WE NEED LESS COMPLICATED TRIGGERS! LOL SC:BW was hard. In order to perform one simple task of, say, healing a hero, and level ups without using many units, it would take a lot of triggers:
    - First, set a switch (one for EACH player) for EACH hero. (not really important, but for spells, etc.)
    - Second, create a switch for EVERY player for EACH level.
    - Third, set the exp for EVERY level.
    - Fourth, create locations at every heal.
    - Fifth, create a trigger for EVERY level at EVERY heal for EACH player.
    Complicated?

    2. We need more units, switches, and locations. We only have the standard units given to us, and sometimes a Hero equivalent. Its enough for many purposes, but hasn't anyone ever imagined the epic battle or RPG where you fight through a 256x256 map, only to find out you have run out of units to use for those really hard parts and the bosses? Also, like stated above, we need custom unit animations, customization, Terran rank switches, implicating Protoss and Zerg ranks, etc.. Haven't you ever created an Assault or special map where the main hero is a Marine and he is a PRIVATE, when you want him to be a COMMANDER?

    3. The map size and the units cap. WE WANT A 512x512 EPIC BATTLE!

Agreed on map size, a bigger map size would make me happy. Even in WC3, I tend to fill up the map on accident, thus not able to finish my story.

A map editor that allows the creation of custom models without downloading all that other crap.
Plus a user friendly way to creature new sound sets for units.

    1. A way to link maps together online: when you finish one map the players are automatically sent to the next one.
    2. An easier system of kills to money, be able to detect health, spells etc. with triggers, and automatic upgrades/ downgrades.
    3. A way to build structures in customs without a builder unit.
    4. Have variables instead of switches so you can add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

    I'm afraid you misunderstood me...

No, that's not what I meant. Zerodown got it right.

What about people who don't want to use the custom units/races? Well, they can just not get the races, then? But what if they want to play with them every once in a while, but mainly just want to stick to the three main races? I know I would be one of those. That's why I suggested to have them be optional even if you had them, so you didn't have to go removing them and reinstalling them the whole time based on what you want at any specific time.

I knew that even though I never played b.net, about the data transfer. That's not what I was talking about, though.

I also would like to be able to manipulate the physics of the game and system.

    Exaggerated explosions

but most of all I would want to change the mechanics of not being able to see up hill back to a chance to miss when shooting up system.

    Being ambitious...

[being very british] I'll shall first admit that I am not a profesional "modder" merely someone with "ideas"...
One of these is a little...ambitious, I think. Besides all the wonderful things you people have already mentioned (you know who you are) I will now present my proverbial "ten pounds".
I am not entirely certain as to this point therefore simply bear with me, I believe Warcraft 3 possesed the functionality of a "hub map" system. Quintessentially providing the means by which one could join together a number of maps, thereyb allowing the player to traverse from one "map" to another, yes?
Now what little research I did into this subject suggested that the function usuable for muliplayer nor did it allow for the maps to run concurrently (and what I mean by this is, you can move units around in one "map" and at the same time you could issue orders to units on another "map").

What I whould essentially "wish for" is the functionality in Starcraft 2 that will allow for multiple, simultaneously running "maps" and scripts/triggers which run over these multiple maps. And IF such a funtion already exists then do me the pleasure of confirming it.

All I ask for, is that yiou can zoom out and make bigger brush... So that environment will be much faster done...
    And, everything from wc3 editor...
Also, If you could choose what the actors says, like the computer speech-thing, whit the SC2 actors... IT WOULD BE AWESOME:D (not sure if that would happend though...)
