    If you want your map to spread, you gotta let the noobs edit it ;) .. I'm telling you this thru my experience

    To make it so that ppl can't steal ur map, put ur name everywhere...
    In the Forces, In the Briefings, In the Leaderboard, In the Intro/Concl. .. In the tutorial.. In some Units. Etc.

    To make it even MORE Difficult, Really Scramble ur triggers...

    If u say screw it i just want to protect my map.
    Download Uberation (www.staredit.net -> Database -> pull down tab - Programs -> Uberation 2.0.0.9)
    Uberation can also Compress ur map (compresses music + gets rid of unused strings, etc.)
    Uberation's protection messes with sm hex codes or smth (i'm not sure) and Only people with Osmap can unprotect it...
    Other protectors aren't as good, but a weak protection is usually good enough for those noobs who like to steal maps. Download SCMDraft 2 or Starforge (Two VERY good map editors.. First one has a script-like trigger editor, but is laggy and messes up ur map if you max out ur strings, the 2nd one is very sophisticated and also have good trigger editor, but takes time to understand, and cannot do terrain) Those have weak protectors too.

    Hey I'll help test. BTW Starcraft.org's map section has been down lately. Now its so different. NO MORE MAPS?

    All thats REALLY left are creepcolony.com and staredit.net. I vote staredit. There aren't that many downloads, but if your map is good, plenty of people will download it. It doesn't really matter about protection, most people are trustworthy. I hope...

    I usually edit random maps, but just to look. I don't change much, sometimes imbalance it, but that's it.

    Wow... nice download count :p.

    And on map protection... I think I'd just rather protect my map, but keep an extra copy. At least that's what I'm planning on doing... then putting out (one of) my e-mail addresses in meh maps. If the person really wants to learn then he/she'll take the time to e-mail me, and I'll be able to give it to them and like, teach them a little.

    And you don't want things happening like with a version of Random Jungle 2.2... somebody decided to copy the map's look, then decided to show some ...er... crap, when you actually got into the map. I was really annoyed D;

    This is what I did. I protected my map for the testing stages. Once I was finished, I took of the protection and added a random hero with a name Created by: MyToiletisfun. Also a random Kakaru :)

    Just put your name in random places, (briefing, mission obj, pops once in a while in game). Just make sure it's not annoying.

    What's a good protector again?

    I don't usually protect my maps, just because I'm usually too lazy to finish/test them.
