Re: Leaked! Exclusive interview with Blizzard

I'm betting the Dark Templar is still in the game and the twilight is a combination of DT and HT. However, it would be hard to explain why Archons or Dark Archons are not present if they are indeed not in the game. "We just decided not to merge anymore after all" doesn't really seem plausible. Unless the twilight one is so much better than the other two combined that it would just be dumb to have the old ones.
Also, the Colossus seems to be sorta like the the role the Archon had. Big midrange unit with someone sustained attack. The Colossus has a bigger range and the Archon had splash.

that sorta idea about colosus and archons was mentioned way back somewhere, well we shall see, maybe blizzard is adding 1 new unit per race, thats the only way i see room for a dark templar unit.
    or
the dark energys on shakuras messes with the way two ht merge, and this creates a twilight archon.

But goliaths are better than turrets anyways with their longer range, mobility, and ability to also attack ground. I mean yeah its a lot higher tech and it costs more and takes longer to build, but you can use a few for mobile turrets already if you really want to.

"High templar: The high templar is back and he'll bring his powerful psionic storm area attack with him. But he's gotten a handy new power he'll be able to create a force field to trap enemy units temporarily or create barriers. Blizzard testing has revealed some extremely effective bottlenecks tactics using him. The ability to say you can't go there anymore will be very powerful."
maybe high templars can freeze enemy bunkers too?

I have rewatched the HD vid a few times to investigate this. It appears that the HT in the video turns to the bunker, but casts the shield thing in front of, but still slightly on, the bunker. This could be exactly what Blizzard meant when they said that he can create barriers. He also stands there, facing the bunker/field, for the entire time the barricade is up, leading me to believe that he is continuously casting, and it may be a drain-energy, instead of cast, ability.

Thats what I was thinking too T-man. Since it said trap enemy troops it may also cover those in the bunker and even static defenses like photon cannons, sunken colonies, etc...

Also, in the PC Gamer article, it said that the Tempest had a strong shield against ground attacks but no defense against air attacks. In the video, about 6-7 shots from a battlecruiser blow it up and one yamato blast blows up the other. They are clearly much weaker than the Carriers were. I'm curious as to what explanation they will give for not giving the Tempest a regular shield on top of the anti-ground attack shield. Also, if those lights on the thing in the top center which appears to be a command deck are windows, the scale of the Tempest is significantly smaller than the Carrier which was f-in huge.

    hee~ that's exactly what I thought.

I do think Soul Hunters are a little overpowered as it takes down an undamaged cc faster than ever, not to mention it's a range unit (I can understand if a group of DTs kill a cc super fast, but at least it's a melee unit)

According to the literature (I believe it was the scanned PC Gamer page), every infantry unit a Soul Hunter kills increases it's damage, up to three.
Those triple beamers are most like guys who killed a few infantry along the way.

Ah right of course because they are SOUL Hunters so when they kill someone they take their soul and then their gun shoots concentrated soul energy.

Not too sure if someone already asked, but does the Twilight Archon have splash damage like the original Archon?

I dont see any Firebats in that Video, i see the "gunfire" from the two pistols that they have, with this new engine they would have made alot more cool Flamethrower animation.
