Kerrigan. A queen or just a hero?

  1. @ItzaHexGor: I know what you meant. I meant I hope it resembles nothing like an Infested Terran nor a Queen; just something like she currently is, but with more polygons and better textures :D

Case reopened due to further evidence. Queen with extremely Kerrigan-esque hair.

Or vice versa. Besides, it's more likely that this is Kerrigan integrating the Queen's DNA, as there would be no use in integrating her hair into Queens.

well blizcast just sited that they are rather just emphasizing a more "purposeful" queen than its former descendant and besides... that artwork is rather just another speculation of a kerrigan - evolution theory since theres actually not a word of official announcement regards to that.. (Samwise and the Lore-guys are definitely good at making suspense concepts like these or possibly a great tragedy in the end) lol

Kerrigan is the Queen of Blades, that doesn't make her a "Queen" Unit. Her role is more like the one of the Overmind had, not the role of a queen.

As you can see in the SC2 trailer, u can see a brief sequence when Zeratul is trying to dodge some kicks, and u can easily say that is Kerrigan's foot. Kerrigan won't be able to kick like that if she was like in ItzaHexGor's pic. I don't see that queen fighting Bruce-Lee style.

Another brief sequence shows Kerrigan's face turning towards the viewer.. u can see again, she doesn't resemble a queen at all.

If u hope to get Kerrigan looking like a queen, having the queen's abilities or having it's role, i think u will be dissapointed.

Btw, her cloaking ability was one of her best abilities in her arsenal, i don't think she would unlearn that ability to start borrowing.. and i find hilarious seeing kerrigan looking like a queen, cloaking. Anyways, she likes being more like an assasin, not standing in base defending it.

I sure hope she will still look like in SC1.. of course, with better graphics.

It might not make her a Queen, but it doesn't prohibit her from being one.
That could be anything. A flashback, a recount, an idea that didn't make it, another sentient Infested character, or purely for the sake of the trailer. It doesn't prove or disprove anything. You should probably go back and read this post.
    Same goes.
I'm not hoping, I'm speculating. Although I haven't been able to prove it, as that would basically be impossible, no-one's been able to disprove it. What with the Queen's model, the language used, her personality, etc, it could definitely go either way.
It's not impossible. She's got amazing psionic capabilities and it could be aided with natural camouflage or moving while Burrowed, etc. We have no clue what her abilities are yet, no matter whether she's a Queen or not, so you can't say that being humanoid she'd be an assassin or being a Queen she'd be a defender. Logically I wouldn't think of her augmenting herself into more of an assassin, as although they're powerful, they're also weak. In my opinion of Kerrigan she'd want to be as strong as possible.
As much as this is just pure speculation, I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up either.

    I'm betting 500 minerals Kerrigan isn't a Queen in-game. Who's up to the challenge?

You're missing the point. I'm not saying she will be, I'm just speculating. There's more than enough evidence to support her returning as a Queen and it does make a lot of sense, lore-wise. It wouldn't effect gameplay, they've been hiding any screenshots or footage of her unlike other heroes like Raynor and Zeratul who have been put in screenshots, she's obsessed with power and obsessed with Queens, used extremely suggestive language in the trailer, the idea of combining a Queen and Kerrigan has obviously at least been toyed with, she's the master of genetic evolution and has had over four years to augment herself, and the Queen's model is incredibly humanoid.

However, I reckon she probably will and sounds like a bit o' fun. You're on.

well recently ive been trying to figure out where did the SC1 gene structure go to or evolved into... after all those long threads of reading speculations and theories on what might be possible, ive noticed a few things...

    * Blizzard clearly explained in the recent blizzcast that the queen is a unit which they wanted to change for so long to be more deserving of the name "Queen" that has an insect-like appearance... clearly they stated that the queen was a former aggresive character that creates units (broodlings,I.terrans) so from that point on Kerrigan has been way too out of its league besides the fact that they are both females...

    * Why isnt zergs air force arsenal loaded with an aerial support caster like t-nomad and p-mothership... it really sounds unfair to have those two other races to have a very mobile support caster while the zerg just have an Overseer?? lol i cant consider it as support as its announced skills arent worth supporting its army in battle besides the detection... so ive came up with a theory on the guardian and queen genetic mixup.. evolving as the swarm guardian which in my point of view is probably its closest successor as its skills and traits are much like the queens...

-S.guardians move faster now = SC1 queen unit mobility genetic enhancement/modification
-Attack animation = parasite skill of SC1 queen
-Spawn broodlings = the thing speaks for itself
which in the end made me realize what if the s.guardian has ensnare?? its cool right? long range attack + sticky goo = irritating cheapness

anyway all im trying to say is that the SC1 queens dna is probably more forseeable at the s.guardian compared to the SC2 queen coz they totally are different in all aspects besides being female ^_^

The Queen's role is one of generating additional units, like Broodlings, Infested Terran, Creep Tumours, Colonies, etc, but Kerrigan's does not have to be. However, who's to say that Kerrigan is out of her league to begin with? Not only have we not seen any of her abilities, which could involve a fair bit of that stuff, but she's the new creator of the Zerg. She's created Roaches, Corrupters, Banelings, and is in control of everything that's being created in every Hive Cluster, so although it's not the traditional StarCraft1 Queen method of creating units, she controls the whole Swarm both evolutionarily and physically.

About Blizzard toying with this idea for a long time now, that could have been a reason behind creating Kerrigan in the first place, not as a Queen as there was already a Queen but as the dominant Queen-like figure behind the Zerg Swarm. Also, they've said they wanted to do this since the original StarCraft, but were unable to because of the restrictions back then, but there are practically no restrictions now and they haven't fully encapsulated the entirety of the concept as the Queen is only controlling one Hive Cluster and not the Swarm. Having the Queenesque figure controlling the Swarm is where a Queen-Kerrigan would come into play.

There aren't any restrictions on the genetic distribution of the Zerg. There won't be an example where one strand of DNA will be used for a single other species. If there's a useful piece of DNA or genetic material that greatly benefited the Queen in StarCraft1, Kerrigan isn't just going to take that one piece from the Queen and give it to the Swarm Guardian. If it's effective and will benefit a species by making it stronger, faster or whatever, that species will get it along with all the other species that would benefit. For another example, if there was a specie of Zerg that had really tough armour, Kerrigan wouldn't take the genetic coding for the armour from it and give it to the Ultralisk, she'd give it to as many species as possible. In other words, one specie won't be broken down and divided up in order to enhance other species, the best parts will be separated, purified and duplicated and distributed to all appropriate species.

The gameplay restrictions are not as great for the campaigns. Much more can be done because every factor is controlled, unlike multiplayer games where everything's left open so has got to be balanced.

If ever ive got my hand on SC2 early i'll 1st play zerg campaign and try to explore more of whats all been the cause of these Queen turmoil and probably post a thread titled "Kerrigan - the barenaked truth!!" watch out for that!! lol, since we're talkin bout Sarah, youre probably right as she is not the "Queen unit anyway!!" gotcha... w/c proposes that a multiplayer will just have each zerg players a single non-heroic queen, sounds kinda odd but you already know that of course,..

If your speculation of Kerrigan being a heroic queen like "The" SC2 queen is proven fact, then I guess Kerrigan has totally succumbed into a vile creature, losing all sense of human vagueness and female estrogens... (she 4got the sense of being beautiful) --- that latest pic from blizcast indeed is quite resembling a Kerriganesque hairstyle w/c btw is only exclusive to Kerrigan as no other form of species in the swarm were noted to be of more humanoid shape than Kerrigan herself... And if so, she is totally insane and yet efficient as she really did a good job on designating which strands of new DNA genes will suit better for them...

@ Juggernaught. Reading is your friend.
There's nothing to say that furrer's avatar isn't just an ordinary Infested Terran or a new Infested hero.

Also, there's artwork supporting her becoming a Queen as well, like I've already said here.
