theres no reason why kerrigan should look like the zerg queen, kerrigan was infested terran based and not even close to relating to the queens. as for mutating into a queen, its kinda impossible though.

Actually on the opposite side of the spectrum gtx it can be very possible for all those things.

Kerrigan is an infested Terran. That is true, however, she is different than a normal infested Terran because of her psychic abilities. She was the most advanced Terran Psychic the Overmind had encountered to our knowledge and with being left by Mengsk on Tarsonis she became infested. The Queens are basicly DNA overlord and immensely powerful in their thought processes/abiltiies, or at least thats how it appears. With that in mind we can deduce that Kerrigan could become a queen with her psychic knowledge and Zerg dna.

I believe that if Kerrigan did return in SC2 as a Zerg Queen she would have to go through the same evolutionary process it had taken to get her into her Infested Kerrigan form. As she had been put inside a Zerg Chrysallis and then emerged from a large cocoon. As she is now Zerg evolution only comes naturally to them, so, I would not be surprised. I would be depress though.

Overall, I believe it is quite possible for Kerrigan to become a queen, but very unlikely.

the ff: statements are in light of the Queen's artwork picture investigation so its not off topic..

actually if you stare at it for a while it kind of resembles a medieval spearman... it doesnt fit anyway, it also portreys a big role for the zerg if that humanoid in the background is not a zerg unit. Havent you guys heard of the unit "succubus" for sometime ago? they said that, that unit will be one of the primary zerg casters in the game... it ended up as a mystery anyways (or probably that guy in the background^_^)

Actually the darktemplar model is definitely using a warp-scythe blade weapon and not a spear.. but it really gives me a doubt that the person standing behind is a zerg and terran coz close range equipment weapons are not theyre thing.. zergs primarily use a part of theyre body for weapon, terrans are adept at machine weaponry... and that fact quite deliminates the probability of the "X" person as a zerg or terran...

In general culture if i may say, the protoss are quite religous and follows a path of Tribe belief and political patterns.. Spears arent used by the terrans in the future anymore right? while the protoss tends to use oldstyle hack n slash weaponry in an advanced techo level... More on that X person it also doesnt conclude much that it is a protoss unit since its composure doesnt resemble much well of a protoss humanoid... The only real possibility is that it is a "Traitor" and why??

*It isnt clear if Kerrigan mingled with any other humanoids after broodwar
*A protoss(corrupted one) traitor will be highly suspicous due to the fact that its in Aiur and only they have more extent knowledge on Protoss technology..
*A possible traitor will be some protoss khala worshipper that didnt get along with the Clan reunion of the protoss (Alien Descrimination lol)
*If the traitor is a terran its also possible coz theyre probably more adept at science compared with Kerrigan
(im not degrading Kerrigan in anyway but it just really is unsure how much wisdom did she acquired through metamorphosis and after killing those zerg overminds, did kerrigan receive its knowledge in some way??

All in all this are also just plain speculations and further results are still to follow...

    @Simbob

Why would they do that? I think they should do like before and make her be her own unique unit.

Blizzard said at the Zerg announcement that Kerrigan will not use the Queen's model but have her own unique model. That's not to say she won't have some Zergish features, but she'll probably be mostly human. Besides, from their artwork you could tell she's definitely not a Queen:

I think they will. But while i was looking at one of the Zerg gameplay videos I thought the queen looked a lot like Kerrigan and it got me thinking.

But as long as she has psi storm I'll be happy! :D

It has been stated that Kerrigan sent out some forces to explore new worlds and assimilate new species, which is how she acquired new species like Roaches, Corrupters, etc. Besides, evolving StarCraft2 Queens wouldn't necessarily require the input of other assimilations or sources. The vast majority of the genetic material is already present, so it wouldn't be hard to give the Queen an evolutionary overhaul. After all, most of the Zerg species have had a minor one, at least.

There're tonnes of reasons why we could expect to see Kerrigan return as a Queen, and I'm about to go over them now for all possible perspectives. If I leave any out or anything, be sure to let me know.

Gameplay - Having Kerrigan return as a heroic Queen would not change gameplay at all. It's exactly the same as if she returned as an Infested Terran, only she's got a different model. Everything would still function as normal, and would be like any other mission where the player has access to a hero.

Trailer - As I said in my opening statement, Kerrigan uses extremely suggestive language in the Zerg announcement trailer. She narrates the whole thing, but doesn't appear in it, or at least, doesn't appear in her more humanoid form. The close up shot of the Queen's face and the undershot of the Queen overlooking destroyed planets while constantly saying 'we thrived', 'we evolved' and 'we are becoming...' all deeply involve her in the trailer, but she's never 'shown'. It's all done as if there's something to hide about her, which I believe there is.

Storyline - We've never seen Kerrigan in any screenshots or in anything related to the StarCraft2 storyline. Raynor we've seen in both the campaigns and in almost every screenshot, and Zeratul we've seen in the campaigns and in a few screenshots, but we've seen absolutely nothing of Kerrigan, even with the release of hundreds of Zerg screenshots. Achieving such a major evolutionary overhaul of herself would take a long time, which could add to why she hid for all those years. Being in such a chrysalis, as ShdwyTemplar suggested, would probably be the most reasonable way to do it, and from there she is still able to control the Swarm, like how she was still able to send out psychic messages as a Ghost.

Model - The Queen has a humanoid model. From the waist up it's almost 100% humanoid. The torso, the shoulders and forearms, the neck and head, although elongated, are all humanoid. Now, they've said she'll be humanoid, so although this doesn't disprove that she'll return as an Infested Terran, it certainly doesn't disprove that she'll return as a Queen. They've also said that although she'll be humanoid, she'll be different, and how much more different can you get? The other thing is, why else would Blizzard design the Queen to have such a humanoid physique? No Zerg unit, either current or old, has had a figure that even remotely resembles what we're seeing here. I can't see why they'd do such a thing if there wasn't any other reason behind it.

Personality - Kerrigan has always been obsessed with Queens. She's named herself the Queen of Blades, she's given Queens an amazing evolutionary overhaul turning the old spellcaster/harasser into the one and only most important unit in the Zerg Swarm. Kerrigan is also obviously both power-hungry, seen by her destroying the Overmind and taking over the entire Zerg Swarm, and paranoid, seen by her destroying all other Cerebrates in order to ensure that she's got complete control over the Swarm. So from a power point of view, seeing as the Queen is the most powerful unit in the Zerg Swarm, it would be a very attractive option to her, and it would beat the pants off remaining as a relatively ordinary Infested Terran. From a paranoid point of view, Queens are the most independent units in the Swarm and have direct control over the production of certain defences, so even if she was somehow overthrown, she'd still have direct control over her own personal defences.

Artwork - Obviously if Blizzard was genuinely setting up such a surprise or bombshell for us, they won't release images of Kerrigan in her Queen form. Instead they've released a whole lot of images of the normal Infested Kerrigan, which they've done, to keep the image of her former self in our minds. It's like how if Kerrigan were to be killed in StarCraft2, they're not going to release artworks of her being killed, as it would kinda ruin the surprise. Most of the images of her have been linked to 'The Story So Far' articles anyway, which is a recap of the StarCraft1stroyline, in which she was still like that.

    From the Zerg announcement:

As in she'll have her unique model/portrait. Same as all the other heroes would have. Sorry, but Blizzard trumps your arguments.

That's doesn't disprove anything at all. Raynor is still a Marine despite him having his own unique model, Zeratul is still a Dark Templar despite having his own unique model, so Kerrigan can still be a Queen. She'll just have her own unique model, which is that of a Queen.

Wlck said model, which was what I responded to. Besides, the same still applies. Raynor will still be a Marine, despite being a unique unit. Zeratul will still be a Dark Templar, despite being a unique unit. So, Kerrigan could still be a Queen, despite still being a unique unit.

I'm aware of that. How does that stop her from appearing as a Queen?

First off, Kerrigan wouldn't be flying. I dunno where you got that from.

    Secondly, reading's your friend:

  17. I would be somewhat disappointed is Kerrigan didn't have her own totally unique and different model; same for most of the other heroes.

Lorewise, yes she's still the Queen of Blades. But game-wise, she's still not the same unit as a Queen. She has a completely different model, completely different animations, completely different abilities, etc. etc.

And I certainly do not want her to be anything like the Hive matriarch or in any bizzare animousity that wouldnt fit for battle (but blizzard is indeed capable of upsetting the community by their will so who knows)... The poll definitely agrees on seeing kerrigan as still the queen with a more terran resemblance humanoid form..

@ TychusFindlay. Kerrigan would still have her own unique model either way. If she returns as an Infested Terran, then her model would be based on her original Infested Kerrigan model, if she returns as a Queen then her model would be based on the Queen's model. Either way it's still unique, it just depends on what the model is based on.

@ Wlck742. Reading is your friend. I never said she was a Queen, but she's obviously either obsessed or got a thing for Queens if she dubbed herself the Queen of Blades, as well as genetically enhancing the Queens to become one of the most, if not the most, powerful and essential component of a Hive Cluster, etc, etc. Regardless, I've already spoken about this.

@ freedom23. The Hive Matriarch doesn't look fit for battle?! This is new to me. Did you watch the Zerg announcement trailer? She's a huge, hulking beast-demon covered in claws and spines that absolutely rips through everything she touches, not to mention that Kerrigan's model, assuming she does return as a Queen, would be unique, so probably even bulkier, sturdier and spikier.

The poll isn't about what I'm debating. In fact, I actually voted for 'Just a kick butt hero'. The poll and original question was about Kerrigan's role, not her appearance. Reread the opening post:
