This started happening to me a couple of days ago, all connection lost (including MSN and such and the connection indicator displays a yellow warning sign which can be resolved by windows). It might have something to do with the fact that I started playing 2v2 and FFA recently, but I don't know. I do not have a router and my cable connection is as follows:

I only have Windows 7 firewall installed with multiple instances of SC2 set as exception (possibly for each patch).

My most recent tracert log is below:

But I see asterisks appear randomly at random steps in the process.

Is it possible that my ISP is at fault here?

My son plays the game, and for the first 3-4 months never complained about drops.

    Now, he's getting them frequently.
    5 30 ms 32 ms 37 ms gar5.la2ca.ip.att.net [12.122.128.25]
    6 29 ms 33 ms 28 ms 12.122.255.74
    7 42 ms 41 ms 32 ms 12.129.193.242
    8 * * 12.129.211.34 reports: Destination net unreachable.

    Trace complete.

For me, it seems to be at step 8 a lot.

My son has tried the game on my wifes computer (which is in our same house), and while he's only played 5 games, they've all been successful. On my machine ( the subject mahine ), he drops every other game.

As a side note, we have Warcraft III, and it does not disconnect.

( I understand it may not use the same battlenet, but ... if it does, it's a data point.)

Tech guy left 5 minutes ago and now my TV and internet are soaring.

So my problem was that the signal to my modem was too weak. As he explained it, there are weaker and weaker signal dampeners the further you are from the amplifier, with values 20, 14, 11, 8, 4. Now the closest amplifier to me is 2 poles away so I should've had a 14 fitted but I had a 20, which weakened my signal too much. He replaced the dampener to a 14 and now everything runs smoothly. My tracert results, especially step 4, is exactly the same as the previous steps regarding latency (7ms, unlike before where I'd have 20+ms or * for no response).

I don't think I'll have the chance to test my new connection by playing any time soon but I'm fairly sure all is fine now. So if you experience such drops and after reading this thread you suspect your ISP to be at fault then do not hesitate to call them.

    Yay :wubclub:

I'm having this exact same problem with the twist that i'm not noticing any connection-loss outside battle.net. Usually, every so often, i get dropped from a game, exit to the score screen with a notice that pops up twice to say connection to battle.net achievements has been lost and reconnected. All this happens in a split-second and is annoying as hell. Usually it happens randomly, and i'll get through at least 2/3 of my games without getting dropped, but today i've dropped out of nearly every game i've started within the first 10 minutes.

If it's not a dns problem, what could it be?

eurozone, btw, if it makes any difference..
