Yes, but its not like one unit counters an other kuvasz, and that was what he meant.
I know very well that an attack on the flank shall be countered with a push in the center, but its not like an attack of a knight shall be countered with an attack of the queen.
Kuvasz do you even play chess in a club eh?

Psi said that marine would take out bla. bla. bla., so I thought he was refering to kinght would take out queen etc., which has nothing to do with chess.
And opening moves are not done without thinking my friend. The plan behind the moves are needed to be known, and the opening is still the 12 moves, and not many know more than to move 8 (at average level).

Starcraft has often been called chess at hyper speed, but not the way Psi wrote it, but the way you wrote it, which I agree completly with, also:
    Strategy!

    You wanna play a game?

What I'm saying is, he said his Marines couldn't even stand up to the Zealots, and we see how Zealots always beat Zerglings. Thats linear chess, Sc was not that. Every unit had a chance to beat the other with certain circumstances.

Just like that video with the Stalker micro...
''Oh now we've got rid of the Zergling, Banelings finish the Zealots''
Why you think no one cheered when the Zealots got raped, cuz they didn't stand a chance.

@Kuvasz, professional micro shouldn't be the universal goal. They want to have the same experience as Sc1, and we're far from pro level yet we could do things like Vultures actively owning Dragoons, and I doubt something like a Jackal could scratch a blinking Stalker, and they are not susceptable to mines either due to blink, neither are Immortals due to their shields.
So the only chance they have is lots of Reapers and Marines which get easied by Zealots anyway, so Terran has to spread their tech out just to fight the Protoss basic Zealots, Stalkers, and Immortals. And the fact they spread out tech so much is why the Terran guy in the first match got owned, since he had to tech to Medivacs then he decided Tanks for Stalkers, then Protoss easily made Immortals, then the Terran player could not get enough Marines or even tech to Reapers.

But then again, he did seem kinda noob since he had like no Marines, Tanks, Medivac then a Nomad. So maybe I'm going too deep.

But I'm sure you catch the jist of what I'm saying.

Yeah ofc. that can be a problem (the spreading out of tech), but doesnt the Jackal own zealots like the firebat did? And I thought the Jackal would be good against immortals too.

Its cooldown is too slow with not enough damage since its bonus light, by that time the Stalkers and Immortals get it, remember how quick like 6 Immortals killed a Thor.

Zealot is light, so the problem is the immortal....
Ok, they just need to balance the immortal then, or create a good counter. Perhaps the immortals attack is too strong? or its life?

Stalker should be the strong attacker since its coming from the Dark Templar line, Immortal should have a decent attack but not 20. It also has been made smaller, it should be bigger and slower if its gonna have 20 attack.
The Zealots are also to strong, remember the old vis with 20 Zealots and 2 Colossus vs 50 Zerglings, yet they hardly died even tho they were surrounded on both sides, which usually results in Zerglings winning.

Yeah, but the stalker is easily killed by tanks like the dragoon in the old game. The Zealot should be owned by the jackal, because its just an improoved firebat. When the German guy won those games, he won without zealots, just stalkers + immortals. So the immortals should on paper be the problem against terran.

By the Zerg its probably the Zealots, but the Roaches should be good against them should they? (on paper)
I think the protoss are OP, but I think it will be fixed when they go BETA. Right now its just important to discuss new ideas.

I've been the champion of my school for 2 years and have extensively participated in competitions. I've got 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals hanging on my wall - I do know what I'm talking about. Maybe you watched matches without timers, which is doing it the easy way. With timers (especially in rapid matches, which is 5 minutes a player), the opening moves are purely mechanical and are done without thinking, one after the other, to save time.

@Psi: I actually hesitated between putting 'pro' and 'careful' because I didn't want to insult anyone :D The point is, we don't know how much attention he paid to micro... maybe he was looking at all the spectacular doodads and buildings details (I know I would've :D).

Yes you're right, Protoss is the most developed so of course they're the strongest.

Yes, i think we discuss balance too much (kuvasz, you, IHG and me). We need to discuss more ideas without focusing so much on balance, because balance is the thing you do at the end. As they said at the D3 panel: Dont think at balance at the start, becaues that will hinder a lot of cool ideas.

Well I want to see Zerglings mutate into Scourglings tier 2.5 if the Zerglings remain weak.

    I wish ;)

We are average at best. I agree with professional micro obviously some people will stand a better chance. I micro'd with Jackals against zealots, moving them away, turning quickly to fire and repeating, that was a very good strategy.

I actually had Reapers while i had everything else, this is why i felt protoss were over powered, although i was trying to think tactically how to beat him, for my friend, it seemed all he had to do was mindlessly build Immortals and Stalkers, its what really annoyed me about the protoss.

As for being a noob, yes i was a noob, it was my first time at Starcraft 2 :)

As i said above, yeah the jackals are good against Zealots, especially when micro'd.

I never used the jackals against Immortals...because before i knew it, they were gonners.

i completely agree with this sentence. I also think their attack and shields are just too good at the moment.

Immortals were giving me the most aggro...once he discovered this, i really couldnt do much about it...again leading me onto the over powered argument. I mean, my shielded marines were brilliant against immortals, but if hes backed them up with stalkers and zealots, no chance. It felt like i was thinking how to beat him, but he was just building 3 main units and winning.

I do think all this will be sorted though, they did (a they always do) stress its just the current build and everything is open to change.

Dont get disheartened though, i had some GREAT games and great fun, it really is shaping up to be just as good as the first.

We saw the Nullifier for our selves. I definitely support the smart cast system now.

Yeah, but those pros must find an other way to show high apm then. The only way why storm wasnt OP vs zerg I think is because it was hard to cast them in 1 sec (also a lot in 1 sec). But ofc. Blizzard will balance it out in some way.

Just think how good pros will be with the smart cast, I just think they fear that low APM players will be as strong...

  16. You obviously agree with Dustin Browder with your opinion of Zerg, and Protoss :D

Also, what's your opinion on the automated features of StarCraft 2? (MBS/MUS, etc.)

Yeah, what do you think of MBS?
And how did it work right now?
    - did you select all gateways and then you had to click for each zealot or did you click once for all?
    - did Zerg have any big drawbacks (multiple hatcheries, could you select all and then click on the larve "thingy")
    - The other races has a (forgot the name) "thingy where the units go when they are produced), and it works with workers to minerals fields too now dont it?
    - What about zerg, do they then have one special for drones, and one for units?

    MBS isn't auto.

But first I think you could do something like, select 5 Gateways, click the Zealot button once and you got 5 Zealots on production, now they may have changed it do you'd have to press it 5 times.

Yes they made it on that way I think, I just want to hear his opinion about it. (and then check if it really works on that way).

  20. :( No reply? I really want to here more opinions of the automated features from people who have ACTUALLY played the game.
