Are you using the right file formats?
    Windows media player uses .avi
    .mov is quicktime

Also it is possible you dont have the right codecs installed

Apparently there's lots of ways to format an .avi so that WMP doesn't open it

    Those would be codecs

You are probably trying to open a Divx file.

Me? No, but I did try to open one movie not long ago. It took two hours of trying different codecs until it turned out it was coded in damned fraps

If it used to work but doesn't work anymore I don't think it's a codec issue.

well, based from my viewing experience, K-lite overlaps VLC, and i know this coz i got a hard time playing my fave movies before, and yes, VLC doesnt play ALL of the formats unlike k-lite which plays EVERYTHING! i know, i have it here and i have lots of movies that are in diff formats, from .ogg to .rmvb and so on, i played all *counting *counting...... 72 episodes of diff formats and they all played well, not to mention k-lite can read subs (thats what i like d best >.< i dont want to watch eberything in jap. XD )

im not rant'ing or anything, i just love my k-lite codec pack *hugs program*, so if its not a codec issue, maybe its a computer issue then
