What about the firebat or hellion? Both are much better at killing drones, and are only using a flamethrower. So, I could kill a drone using a flamethrower tank whey used in the Pacific in WW2, as I'm pretty sure a WW2 tank has more armor than the kart-style hellion and a similar range.

I know only the army has them, but that doesn't mean pedestrians don't have some of their own creations to substitute:

Eon, the fact that the hellion has an upgrade should say something about technology. They are always improving their tech, so obviously they arent just OUR standard flamethowers. Just like how shoes arent the same, some shoes are much better and efficient than others (at a certain activity at least). I'm not sure about range actually. I would say that the WW2 tank would do less damage than a hellion.

Please realize that the armor of Terrans is not made of our material. They made new alloys which are a helluva lot stronger than whatever we have.

So the hellion has an upgrade to shoot blue fire, how does that lessen the reality that zerg die to fire? Both firebat and pre-upgrade hellion shoot red/orange flames, which is the same color that shoots out of current flamethrowers. Color indicates how hot the flame is, so both current flamethrowers and firebats likely have a similar heat output by the flames, which is what does the damage to living/non-living objects(its the heat from the fire that burns/kills things). Blue is hotter, and thats why the blue flame hellion does more damage, but it is reasonable to assume that the firebat/hellion beforehand would do similar damage to current ones.

Also, the firebat has incredibly short range. Both ingame and the cutscene from SC:Ghost show that the flame couldn't travel more than ~10 feet before dispersing, which is much shorter than homemade flamethrowers can be today.

IMO, zerg would only win currently due to their numbers.

2 things I am curious about:

-would zerg armies survive a nuclear assault, seeing as the tactical-mini nukes tend to kill an army relatively easy.

-how zerg air would fair against STA defenses and jets. Mutas are shown to have really short range, so how they would win against anti-air and fighter missiles that have a really accurate range of miles could be anyone's guess. Broodlord would fare better, but again probably couldn't outrange ground missiles and have no way to hit our air. Corrupter would have to be the factor in this battle.
