Stay and check it out quietly.

Why waste the trip by going back?

Sorry it took me at least 100 years to respond, been busy.

You decide to investigate the trees. Sneaking up close to it, you toss a rock against a tree in the other direction. It hits the trunk with a loud thunk. Waiting for something to come out, you crouch there, hardly breathing. After waiting a couple minutes, you decide that there's nothing coming out. Peeking through the leaves, you see a few figures in the shade, but they're not moving, and no breath is misting from them. Obviously, they're dead. Of course, that doesn't mean there's not anyone else around.

Go check out the bodies or go back to the mall?

Burn the forest using the lighter, then book it back to the mall as fast as you can. Whatever killed those things could still be around, and vengeance is oh so sweet.

Probably a trap. Again, GTFO. You want to get out before they purify the city.

agreed, get out. if those bodies are contaminated contact will be bad. if they aren't, the killer might be. safest route is to hightail it and be quick, quiet, and defensive about it. retreat but keep your gun at the ready.

You decide whatever those bodies are, they're not worth being killed over. You decide to get back to the mall. On the off chance that they're just playing dead, you consider burning the forest, but then realize everything's far too wet.

Once back at the mall, you go back to the garage through that lovely large hole. Once inside, you have a choice of cars.

The handyman pickup, the mall security SUV, or a FedEx truck

Search the other cars for supplies (such as gas), then take off in the SUV.

I agree with EMR, but take a side trip and stock it with some stuff from the store.

AND take all of the vehicle keys. I doubt anybody else is in a similar predicament as you and so no survivors will stumble upon the mall, and if the things somehow figure out how to drive, it would be good if they couldn't.

Grabbing a stock pile of food, mostly canned stuff, you throw it into the rear of the SUV. Grabbing all the keys, just in case, you jump into the car. Turning the key, the engine roars to life. Unfortunately, that's not the only thing that roars. From outside the wall, you can hear the shrill but at the same time deep roars of those turned creatures. Figured it's time to get the hell out of here, you slam on the gas, meaning to punch through the premade hole in the garage. Your plan works, for the most part, but sadly, your vehicle isn't made for snow this deep. The moment your rear wheels hit the snowpack, you stop dead as the wheels just spin and spin and spin. Looking out the window, you see the creatures loping towards you. There must be at least thirty of them. You lock all of the doors, not knowing how much that will help. Slowing the wheels down enough to get a grip, you start to move.

Lamentably, not fast enough. As the first of the monsters reaches your car, he (or she) slams into it with the force of a rhino. The car is dented and knocked on its side, driver's side down. Your seat belt doesn't do much good, and your head slams into the window, a cut adding new blood to the dried blood from the bodies before. This new blood sends the beasts into a frenzy. They continually slam into the car, spinning it around. One particularly large one leaps and slams into the car, overturning it.

Your seatbelt gives, dropping you to the roof, now the floor. Distinctly, you feel something SNAP....Your back. Unable to move your legs, you can only watch in horror as the fiends shatter the rear window. Having no desire to be eaten alive, and knowing only one alternative, you pull out your gun and.....

    THE END

    Restart from checkpoint.

I wasted too much time on this thread to end like this.

We phailed. I blame whoever fired the gunshot in the first place.

    The three strikes:
Well, first off, the shooting. That let 'em know you're there. You were supposed to peek through using the crowbar
The second was the other wall. Those bodies were bite victims, ie other survivors pinned them there. The monsters didn't have enough smarts to make spears and walls.
And, lastly, the tree stand was a trap for the monsters. There was a survivor who would've helped you.

So, should I make another one?
