yes i agree freedom23. The editor should be in my opinion the most perfected part of the game. Think about it more people are drawn to being able to make there own maps and scenarios. Yes the actual gameplay and campaigne are awesome but after you've beaten the comapiagne and have played alot of games online. What else keeps you coming back for more, The edior.

It'd be interesting in some sort of custom world war map, but the thing about this entire idea is that it won't work because Blizzard's vision is to have the same effects, except on more mechanized units. Also, the units are too similar (forgive me for calling an infantry, a marine, and a guy with a shotgun too similar, but in the big picture, they are). There's only going to be a total of around 13-15 units for the Terran army. Everything has to be fairly distinct. Filling it with lots of different types of men wouldn't be good enough, it'd make things too complex and would overlap a lot of current units.

Medic was replaced with Dropship, they won't make another medic-type guy.
    Combat Engineer is the Nomad.
    Machine gun is the marine.
    Jackal is the firebat.
Tank is the grenadier / rocket launcher.
Reaper is the guerilla warfare guy.

Basically, the infantry you suggest is too specific to implement in the real game and they overlap roles of other units. Too many types of units to put in the actual game.

Sensei I just want to point out that the Grenadier is more likely the Marauder.

Marine, Marauder, and Reaper are good enough for me.

Neon, I don't know you, I've never seen you use mod authority; but that's some straight ****. You're the good cop.

A strong Terran (or any race really) infantry is composed of versatile units. That is what we have now. Think, marines the first tier one unit attack both ground and air. With ability upgrades galore (Stim Pack FTW) they stay relevant even late game. In SC2 we have medivacs (flying medics!) that keep these hardasses alive.

Sorry firebats are gone, damn glad to see marauders. Something new? Thank you Blizzard.

I realize what you have to say about weapon specialists is true in real life. In SC all those units would fill the whole army. Every developed nation on Earth has an airforce and navy. All those infantry units would take too many spots to even fit in the siege tank.

Lore wise, marines are ultra grunts. They can pretty much do it all and then some with proper support. Terrans do not have machine gunners and mortar teams because it is far more efficient to mass produce the versatile marine.

I disagree with you InfantryAdvocate, but I'm glad to see people coming out with developed ideas.

all i want is the medic back because it seems dumb for a human-based race not to have it.

i propose that the medic is for early game as the medivac version is for late-games, and that in late game a player can load medics into a medivac and the ship would be able to heal multiple units. say a maximum of 3 medics per ship??

this would help with the macro..just my idea :)

does anyone like this idea besides me?
