    Thats what limits are for, they let us talk about what happens when something gets to a place it shouldn't be able to. Also infinity*0=1 does actually make sense if you look at it right. Just look at what the limit as x->0 does of x/x which is about as close as your going to get to a simple infinity times a simple 0. And guess what that limit equals 1.

    I admit that it makes sense when relating it to 1/0=infinity and 1/infinity=0, but the equation itself should equal 0. Anything (or x) when multiplied by zero gives zero, just like how x times one is x. It will always happen. In short, if you've got no lots of it (in this case, infinity), then you've got nothing.
    Where did you get x/x from? That will never occur in a hyperbola graph.

    Just so its known, it is currently 1:30 AM my time so if my answer doesn't make senseit might be because some of my own nuerons arn't firing.

    Anyways, I do see where your coming from that any number multiplied by 0 equals 0. Unfortunately infinity tends to break rules like these because it is not in fact a number, its a mathmatical concept.. The x/x thing is a way to model what would happen if we could actually multiply 0 by infinity.  We ca do this because while we can't directly deal with 0/0 we can look at what happens as x/x approaches x=0. You can either just look at x/x and realize that the limit as x->0 is 1 or you can use L'hopital's rule and get the answer of 1/1 which is 1.

    Jeez, that's trippy.
    Forgive me if I missed the bleeding obvious here, I'm not actually a whiz at maths, but just because 0/0 equals one, that doesn't necessarily mean that infinityx0 will equal 1, does it? x/x as x approaches 0 will equal one, and x/x as x approaches infinity will still equal one. There isn't anything that shows infinityx0=1.

    wait....... is it anything multiplied by 0 = 0?
    so like....12398123t5127451212983125312873129531283----->>>>>>>>>> x 0 = 0.... right?

    AND I AM NOW A COMMANDER! IN YOUR FACE!

    Yes. If you've got no groups of 12398123t5127451212983125312873129531283 apples, how many apples do you have? Same goes the other way around. If you've got 12398123t5127451212983125312873129531283 groups of zero apples, how many apples? It'll always be zero.
    However apparently it's different with limits. It's seriously confusing.

    Any number (with the exception of 0 and infinity) divided by 0 is in effect infinity. So if we multiplied 1/0 by 0 (which is the same thing as 0/0) we would have 0 multiplied by infinity. Actually to be completely honest 0 multiplied by infinity can actually be anything it all depends on what function is creating the situation. For example (as x->0) x^2/x is 0 x/x^2 is infinity and 7x/x is 7. It really comes down to which has more power the top or bottom of the fraction, and if the power is equal it comes down to what the constants in front of the variables are.

    On another kinda cool note you don't even really need to look at as 0/0 you could also go the route of infinity/infinity which is the exact same thing because 1/infinity=0 and the same limit rules still apply.

    YOU CAN DO IT! BITE HIS FREAKING HEAD OFF!!

    but seriously, the law of parabolas states that bla bla bla............. blabla.............. negative infinity........ blablabla........... by taking the value of y......... blablabla................... equal to..... blabla......... value!

    mmkay...... now do you understand fenix?

    Surprisingly, yes.

    I was actually just trying to make a poor joke, I've always been good with abstract concepts. I understand mostly what they're going at, just not the math behind it.

    No, actually, BlackTech has figured out a way to control them, and has conviently placed them in the bottoms of all sewage and septic tanks.
