The modem that was provided from Virgin Media is a modem+router in 1, so that wont be possible, i think i should mention that my connection doesn't come thru fibre optics, it comes thru my phone line. I cant see that being the issue though, ive done a speedtest and i get around 7mb connection and as always i can instantly log back in and/or open the browser.

i also ran 3d trace with eu.battle.server blah blah and the graph looked exactly the same as the last screenshot i posted when i got dropped....

Gah, forgot it was a combo unit. I find it really odd that your MTU default was not 1500 or 1492. The fact it was smaller is just...weird...

But I did find something interesting. Are you logging into your DSL using PPPoE (meaning it has to have a username and password to login)? That might explain the "weird" MTU size. You could try MTU size of 1500 as well.

Only other possibly I could think of other then MTU size is that you simply need to get a new IP address for your router. Having an IP for a long time can lead to lots of zombie/dead traffic, and resetting it once in awhile and getting a new IP can go a long way in helping improve your connection. As for whether you can reset and get a new IP, sometimes its as easy and doing a DHCP refresh on your router. Normally though, you would have to contact your ISP. :(

Yeah, why won't I just give up and blame Blizzard? Because there are plenty of other plausible things to blame. Zombie traffic is just one of them.

Also, I never did see your 3D tracert to 'eu.logon.battle.net,' the only one posted right now is the one you did to Google UK.

I keep forgetting to ask this stupid question, but.. you are plugged into the router right? Your not using Wireless are you? Sorry if you already answered the question, but it's something I should ask. :/

Just checked the setting and yes, im logging in using PPPoE, i havn't a clue what any of these setting mean. ill attach a SS of my settings.

I created a new IP when i created a static IP for forwarding my ports.

I kinda raged on my last disconnect and forgot to printscreen, but it looked identical to the graph when tracing google.co.uk, a big green spike the moment i got dropped.

Yes im wired into the router, not on wireless

I am actually reading quiet a bit about PPPoE not working well out-of-the-box with lower then normal MTU (meaning, the kind of crap you are experiencing). Go ahead and crank the MTU setting on the PPPoE connection all the way to 1500 (which would make it compatible with Ethernet) and try that first. Make sure your LAN MTU matches your WAN MTU!!! (super important!)

I am still not sure what the sudden drop is in your connection using tracert, but if its occurring on both Google and Battle.net, then your ISP is certainly to blame for this, not Blizzard. I would contact your ISP and tell them about the issues you are experiencing, maybe try pinging a few more sites like yahoo.co.uk and microsoft.com and see if you get similar results. Hell, try pinging your router to make sure its not the connection between your machine and the router (meaning 192.168.1.1).

Ok i've put the MTU to 1500, just looked at all the options and i dont see any other MTU apart from the MTU under pppoa connection type

Sure, I'll try different servers, but I'm only getting disconnected from starcraft, a server run by blizzard, i had traceroute running earlier while streaming some video, and everything was smooth. Sure ill ring my isp again but they just gonna tell me what they said last time.... "you havn't lost connection for a few days" . I dont even know what the real issues are. All I know is I have a stable internet connection yet I get kicked from battle.net servers almost every other hour, I'm not being disconnected from my isp. My computer is updated and well above minimum requirements to run the game.

This thread shows that im not the only guy with this problem, it also shows blizzard havn't even bothered to respond.

Anyway i need some sleep, i'll run some 'You've Been Dropped! Surrender! (aka starcraft2) later tonight and print all screens of traceroute. Peace out.

Its not your ISP. If you can play other games and your internet otherwise works fine, its Blizzard's problem.
