I figured out the truth about the Xel'Naga!

Discussion in 'StarCraft 2 Story and Races' started by Dustyvan, Jul 16, 2008.

  1. In the game, they are based on the Naga. Which are real creatures in ... one of those mythologies.. I forgot which...

Then no one knows the "true" pronunciation (Protoss or Zerg) so, therefore, the pronunciation becomes "Zell-Naga" regardless of it's original pronunciation.. That's how language works :D

That's no good excuse. If that's the case they simply shouldn't have based both the wc naga and the xel'naga on them.

  3. I don't know how you thought I said that's an excuse or how you thought I meant the Xel'Naga as well, but all I meant to say was that I recently played a game called Digital Devil Saga 2 which is an RPG which had a boss called a Naga. It looked damn nearly exactly like that female Naga hero with a bow from the campaign. I haven't played the campaign in a while so I can't remember the name. So, I assume both are based on the same creature from myths so the name similarities with Xel'Naga is purely coincidental.

I was never into WarCraft III's campaign as much as StarCraft's so I can't remember a lot of details.

We know how to pronounce Xel'Naga.

Both Tassadar and the Overmind spoke the word in the original StarCraft (zerg mission 10, protoss mission 9 IIRC; I know I'm correct about the zerg mission). And of course Zeratul mentioned it at BlizzCon 2007.

    It's pronounced "Zel-Naga".

i highly doubt the Naga from WC is the Xel'Naga in Starcraft.

i truthfully know practically nothing about them but maybe this upcoming blizzcon we will be able to learn a bit more, even if they only talk about it for 5 seconds.

Only in a very basic way. True both species are bipeds of similar general shape but other than that they are totally different. The Protoss have no mouths or noses, they absorb energy from sun/moonlight to live, have different hands and feet (I think they have two thumbs per hand), and their skin is more reptillian like than human.

And as for Xel'naga = Humans? Interesting theory but abso-****ing-lutely no way! I deny that with every fiber of my being for several reasons. First because humanity hasn't been around long enough and there is no evidence of outside influence (and no stonehenge or the pyramids don't count). Secondly, if you watch the opening cinematic teaser for SC2 when zeatul is talking about the xel'naga they show a stone engraving of a creature that definitly ain't human (or zerg). And last but most importantly of all, because that would be totally ****ing lame. Yeah I know Halo did it but that doesn't make it a good idea or that they should copy it.

the supreme ruler of the xel'naga is Illidan Stormrage, he had a teleporter device stashed away in the Black Temple after you beat him in Burning Crusade. DUH! it all makes sense!!

i pray in Warcraft 4 they say he was "near death" and his character gets a deserving advancement in the plot, i feel bad for him he is being constantly used by unknown powers because he is so powerful
