Hero Attack v2.27 has been released!!! - November 7th, 2011

    For the ghost, that's the point. It was super powerful before you guys had the extra income to get overseers, but once you did, it felt like the ghost was always meant to be permanently cloaked.

    For the defiler, I would suggest simply increasing his health all the way across the board.

    For the reaper, perhaps call it a different kind of stimpack (Stimpack Alpha for the marine, Stimpack Beta for the reaper?) and just only give a slightly increased attack speed bonus for the reaper's.

    10% life + 10% shields > 10% damage.


    Some things I forgot to mention:
    -Item loss on death
    -Exciting, insulting text when you kill another player
    -Setting the whole race thing in the lobby was a mild nuisance, I would rather vote at the start of the game for my team's race before the hero selection screen.

    If that is the case, how do you suggest I resolve this issue? Should I make detection easier to get early in the game? Should I make the cloaking ability weaker?

    Originally I was thinking of giving the reaper hero a berserk or frenzy ability, but then I realised this would be too similar to stimpack so just went with stimpack instead. If I did give the reaper some berserk ability I would like to make it different enough from stimpack to justify its existence.

    I'm not sure I understand how 10% life + 10% shields > 10% damage. Doesn't that mean that heroes can take 10% more damage and deal 10% more damage each level? So shouldn't that be balanced?

    The item loss bug is really wierd. My item trigger was working perfectly in version 1.0. I must have accidently changed something when I was trying to fix the reaver dying in shuttle bug.

    Edit: I looked into it and the bug isn't because I changed the hero revive trigger in 1.1. Rather it is because Blizzard changed something in patch 1.1 that made it so that the revive trigger doesn't work properly. The creator of Zealot Frenzy was having similar issues:

    I'll check the 'drop on death' flag for all my items in the next version and hopefully that will resolve everything.

    There isn't a good solution to the race issue at the moment. The reason is because currently there is no way to change a player's race and thus racial UI once the game starts. Ideally I would like to be able to set a player's race using triggers but that is not possible at the moment.

    The reason I have races chosen in the lobby is because it is the only way for players to make sure that they have the correct racial UI. Since a players racial UI is decided before the game starts and cannot be changed, this allows a player to match their race with the computer. I'll have to wait for Blizzard to let me change a player's race after the game starts to resolve this issue.

    Ghost: Add more levels to the ability. Level 1 would cost 5-6 energy, Level 2 would cost 4-5 energy, Level 3 would cost 3-4 energy, Level 4 would cost 2-3 energy, Level 5 would cost 1-2 energy, Level 6 would cost 0-1 energy. This would make it take longer to get to perma-cloak.

    Reaper: Something involving testosterone could work.

    Health to Damage Ratio: I don't know what to tell you. My math formula was totally wrong XD. Today it wasn't as much of an issue as it was yesterday, but it was still there.

    Racial UI: I feel like the user interface is less important than being able to play the race you want to play without having to fiddle with it pre-game. Some hosts don't even pay attention until loading begins.

    After playing some games today I'm starting to see what you mean. It's not that cloak is overpowered late game but that it comes very early and is very difficult for players to deal with in the mid game. At this point i'm really considering abandonning the 10 level WC3 model and instead changing to a 20+ level system similar to DOTA. The reason is because heroes max out way to quickly (within 10 minutes). However, while I could reduce the amount of experience by say half, players would still be maxing out around 15-20 minutes (which wouldn't be that bad because tier 4 spawns come at 15 minutes and I was aiming for 20-30 minute games). Also, I sort of like the fast pace that the game currently has. However the problem with moving to a 20+ level system is that it would be really difficult to make some ultimates levelable (such as cliff walk). Also, if I increased the number of abilities I might have to add a 5th ability for each hero, or give each hero the option to spend points on stat boosters similar to DOTA.

    As soon as blizzard lets me change a player's race once the game starts I will probably change it. However, I think people are becoming familiar with the current system so a change might confuse them.

    Just realize that if you want the fast-paced game, there's going to be that much less actual action each game. I would suggest making heroes a tad bit squishier so that more kills/deaths occur in the short-ish time frame.

    Sorry it took so long to finish version 1.2. I was really busy with university the past few weeks.

    Version 1.2 has been uploaded. You can find it by filtering for custom games and clicking the show more maps button 5 times. I will be waiting in the lobby for people to join.

    Ahh, it's American Thanksgiving. That explains a lot. I'm used to Thanksgiving in early October so I didn't notice.

    Version 1.3 will be released on December 11, 2010. It will feature 6 new heroes. I am currently uploading a video of it.

    Btw, how do I change the thread title? I tried editing the original post and clicking 'edit advance' and changing the post's title, but that doesn't seem to work. :(

    Yes, I tried several times. Also, when I click on edit advanced it says the title is "[Dota] Hero Attack v1.3 - to be released on Dec. 11", which is the one I want, but that isn't the title that is showing up for the thread. :(

    Guess it's a bug?
