K, as soon as I saw gender and declensions I eksed it. I've had way too many history of English classes to appreciate those words
But I meant in everyday speech. I've heard octopi, topi and foci for more than one octopus, topos and focus, as well as fungi, but I've encountered that last one pretty often. Unlike viri or the rest I listed, which I heard from questionable sources at best these plurals sound hypercorrect to me.

 

I've always figured anything that ends in 'us' changes to 'i' for plural.

That's exactly how I feel about these, which is why I said they sound hypercorrect to me. I found this page following the "colloquial plural" platypi, which is supposed to be platypuses, apparently.
