I think Reaver's role in StarCraft has been taken over by Collosus and Stalkers. As for splash damages, Collosus has it all; As for cheesey tactics like drop, hit, and run, Stalkers can do the same with the Blink ability.

I'm more happy that they're gone.

Reavers gone... and good riddance :)

They werent really good, and the fact u HAD to buy those bombs was a killer maybe not so much in PVP but in PVE for sure.
Colossus is just... dandy :) always liked things that make PEW PEW Babylon 5 style :) (thats why i Love Warprays :> )

I don't think the reaver should be totally kicked i think it can serve with another role.

if you read about the reaver (in the col section) on the Starcraft 2 site it says that reavers are used in mineral colection. maby it can be used as a fast expasion unit with a little defence. nerf the guns and let probes drop like 500 minerals into it then improve the spead or have an upgrade to do that and let the reaver go back to the bace and drop 500 min. or have an upgrade to deliver it strait to your min count. then protos witch I think have always bin not that good at fast expansion can have a way to have a bace but not have a bace.

Don't flame me too hard Im new :p

Yeah, a good adaptation for reavers could be him eating minerals and releasing scarabs. Like a protector of new mineral sources: you leave it there, and it will consume the minerals and defend it, beeing a self sustaining unit.

I'm pro somethings remain as they were, but in this case, I much rather face a diferent Protoss army than yet again the Reaver base defending strats, as I already mentioned. But I've already said that, and it's no use repeating it. ;-) I know there could be innovations for them. Only prefer the way it's coming to, for the protoss at least (Nomads are terrible! X-p)

Dustin Browder again voiced the same quote.
    http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=sc-general&t=235085&p=2

    "Nothing is final."
Still a good read. He basically stated that the expectations of SC2 is enormous and that axeing the Reavers was by far one of the hardest call. He also stated that our feelings towards the Reavers will be heard. :)

So anything is possible. But I believe if they are going to bring back the Reavers, it is going to be revamped one way or the other.

warp ray and colossus is good enuff already putting it in sc2 would be like useless since shuttle is gone and 3 siege units is sooo not protoss so let reaver R.I.P. and stay in sc1.

well i dun mind it going but hopefully the new unit which gets some similiar abilities would be good. And if we miss the reavers well it will be in the map editor (hopefully with better scarab AI) too mess around with

Why would we need the reaver?
The colosuss can kill small units more quickly even if they are spread out.
The warp ray can kill buildings more quickly and can fire at air units.

Two units that do the job better only reason I would even consider the reaver is if it were given some major buffs

Basically we all hate to miss the big fat worm but nothings permanent in the blizzworld so what if....

    New Imaginary Plot:
Long have passed since the rise of Zerg Queen of Blades and ruled with horror and terror...
The planet of Aiur was wasted along with the infestation of various protoss structures and fallen warriors, 10 years of genetic perfection enabled a new organism of the zerg to enable it to parasitically merge even those of mechanical or robotic units thus giving birth to the rise of the "bio-mechanic zerg units"
specifically the new Zerg Reaver! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

    my idea for this is
    * it doesnt use scarabs but corrosive acids like those of the SC1 devourers thus giving a new taste to the ground wars for the zerg
    * maybe a burrow skill will make useful for the fat worm or maybe a slow moving burrow skill ???
    * so that this time we have a zerg heavy artillery unit

I like the reaver... with an improved IA (for scarabs) and redesigned look (like floating instead of walking... I say floating, not flying)
