-They could easily change it to affect any unit type if it seems appropriate.
-It doesn't have to affect all units, anyway.
-Nuclear strike affects all units. Why not use that?

Not being able to be used on (or doing decreased damage) to large targets would be better than armoured in my opinion.

That sounds like a nice idea. Imagine sending a few ghosts to hills near the enemys base and letting them lurk there until you attack with your army and snipe the enemies high templars. If the enemy would scout the area where you have a ghost you would cloak it and the enemy would go by it.

And I agree with Overmind. Even armored units are not fully armored. And ghosts are so super human that they would be able to aim at weak places. This would also allow you to snipe observers if you have a detector.

Being super-human doesn't make them gods. And who says a unit's weak points are always in view? Thors and Battlecruisers and Carriers are basically these big chunks of metal. Your experience has mislead you if you believe that even the biggest chunks of metal necessarily have flashing red spots that cause the whole thing to explode when hit with a single small object at hypersonic speeds.

Battlecruisers, Carriers and Thors are in the large (or is it massive?) category.

This would make them still be decent against low tier armored targets like marauders, while snipe wouldn't be effective against the powerful late game units like Colossi, Thors and capital ships.

The ghosts sniper shot is actually quite usefulk.. In my opinion it's designed to eliminate low health or possibly fleeing enemy unit. For instance, a High templar can be taken out before it reaches your army. It's a valuable asset in the terran army but lockdown would have also been a great option/ability to use.
