    My thoughts exactly, it's a confounding variable causing people to not get their key. That variable could range from wrong input, store's fault, to hackers. HOWEVER, as you said, it is a small percentage and the deal IS legit based on personal experience.

    If your key does not work, don't complain on twitter, complain to Gamestop and solve the problem.

    People are funny, once a few % of people experience something bad, the whole population goes on red alert and exaggerate the whole thing ^_^;

    Ever notice that after someone is kid napped, it seems like MORE people are getting kid napped? That's because once an incident happens, people pay attention to it more. But when in reality, it's been going on all along, you just haven't noticed.

    Lol. The only way they can check if a key is used, is by using it themselves.
    So this whole thing fails about as hard as all of the failblog content combined.

    I would assume Blizzard would not give them a beta key unless they knew it had not been used. I just assumed EB/GS was giving the same beta key to different people.

    UPDATE UPDATE: According to forum members the beta key offer is legitimate as real keys have been received, but there are reports of bad keys coming through. Might have to fight with GameStop to get a real one if it happens to you! Proceed with caution!

    Don't be too suspicous. I'm sure that this has been a part of Blizzard's plan from the beginning, probably an effort from Blizzard-Activision corporate, though it did state in the developers notes on BNET that they were bringing in more players to simulate a retail release. "The Gamestop Phase" is likely part of the beta test to test the new BNET 2.0 out with a larger population of players. That said the people that get bunk codes or input them incorrectly will be more vocal about their complaints. You can win beta keys on this site, but you can DEFINITELY gain beta access via Gamestop. Also isn't the retail price of SC2 59.99 and the collector's edition 99.99? I'm pretty sure they had it up on their site! Blizzard.com. Just don't be too suspicious of the Gamestop offer I and many others have easily gained beta keys. You can also buy an other game and get 25% off with their current promotion, not a bad deal if you ask me. Gamestop is never my first choice of retailers to buy games from, but I do go to them from time to time, from an inventory standpoint they have a pretty good selection of new and used games, some of them you can nab for a real bargain. The newer used games are a massive rip off though!

    Fantastic article... Exactly what I've come to expect of SC2forums.

    Incidentally, Amazon.com is also offering this promotion.

    @Aurora

    I never said Jon wrote it. I merely stated that it was a quality article worthy of the front page.

    I purchased the CE of Starcraft 2 online yesterday morning around 8:30am Eastern time. Beta Key is supposed to come within 1 business day. It is now almost 12 noon the following day and nothing yet. And now when you go to GameStop's site, it says that the CE is no longer available for online purchase. When I search my zip code for the nearest retail location that could provide it, it gives me 0 locations within 100 miles.

    I've heard rumors about them already selling more copies than they have Beta keys. Sure it's worked for a lot of people, but what now?

    I'm just wondering what issues anyone else is having it would provide some comfort knowing I'm not alone here.

    EDIT: I just received my email with my Beta key. Took > 30 hours, but it seems to be working, downloading the game right now.

    I got a key from gamestop that I gave to a friend and worked just fine. I was only stating to be aware that some are supposedly getting claimed keys and having to contact gamestop about a replacement. Also apparently gamestop has been replacing those claimed keys from what I have seen.
