There were other really good thoughtful posts I was gonna quote and comment on....but shit, GIANT CHAIN SAWS......I love it. You had an lol there prior to me cutting the quote to avoid being an asshole, but I LOVE some giant chain saws in SC2. Maybe huge circular saws? Either would be a real badass spectacle. More badass than Sam L Jackson character in "Pulp Fiction" (I just remembered, his name was Jules).

I thought about a mini-gun unit too. Spray and pray is something you don't see in many (correction) ANY rts. Three mobile mini-gun turrets could form one hell of a killing field.

If it is gonna be built from the factory; the unit should be a treaded (aka vehicle) melee BAMF.

As much as I support the mini-gun over the now cliche (in the SC universe) flame thrower....Goddamn a high rpm slice n' dice unit would be king lore wise. Or concept wise...or gameplay wise. A Terran goblin shredder nearly gives me a hard on.

I hope that's what they did.

I can't be bothered to go back and put in the name of the person who said it (He got his power up none the less), but Blizz IS schizophrenic about the Firebat. I liked those silly mother f**kers, but if they can't figure out how to put 'em in properly.....well, f**k them.
It's a new game not an expansion.

Right, I've forgot predator, sorrz. I liked shape but its ability was imho unworkable

Each unit have to be on its own - so no female/male ghost as separate units, no mechs (ok, Viking is crossover of mech/transformer, while Thor is nearly building - so they have bunch of differences), no two tanks etc...
Terran always had great infantry. basic Marines, Medics, Ghosts (with awesome abilities) ... old Firebat was bad@ss (while new also hellishingly destructive, yeah). There's still place for both Firebat n' Reaper.
Metal? Classic factory trio was balanced (so Cobra's gone and Viking shift to Starport were just bad) and enough for terran (do you see some kind of unit missing? APC? Nope.)

Well, basic marines have something like minigun, and Gol's autocannons have similar way of working.

I still don't have idea what they want to introduce to Terran Forces (recently Blizz was axing n' axing)

Irridation grenade ftw but it could be imba as it would kill a lot of units easily. Maybe a guy with a bazooka type weapon who could fire these Irridation grenades and whatever is caught up in the splash damage gets a smaller version of irridate, but then that leaves Terran without a melee unit, also I can't picture a irridation grenade taking out buildings whereas fire owns all.

You know what would be cool? If they had a different kind of D-8 chage for reapers that set traps that shoots fire out, that way, it would still have pistols, and it's base raiding ability, and can still have fire-y... abilitlies. And they actually have to set them, not toss them, and would explode into a firey explosion, and would expire eventually, not like spider mines.

First off i would like to say that i like how blizzard is thinking outside the box and is trying different things. Second i would like to emphasize the word "currently" in Karune's post.

I woudnt mind a new unit that takes the roll of the Factory built Firebat. I like new units and i will use them.

But the Factory Firebat had 2 roles if you think about it.

One of them was to be a counter to infantry namely marines, zerglings and zealots. But i think its second role is more important, its his tanking ability. A infantry unit with health anywhere around 100 with medics will be a heck of a damage absorber.

The "tank" in SC1 mech assault was the vulture, if you dont have enough vultures vs protoss to absorb all the damage and give the siege tanks time to kill the enemy you will lose the game, and at the same time they were killing zealots.

So this new unit will have to be a melee to mid range tanking, infantry killing unit. So we have to think sturdy yet mobile and somewhat flexible.

Reapers are not sturdy and if they are made sturdy they will be too powerful.

I am really excited to see what this new unit is.

A vulture that gets more and more sturdy would eventually turn into a Cobra. :p
    Maybe it's a Cobra/Vulture with a short ranged attack?

But I would rather have an infantry mech, because like DK said, Medics healing them would absorb a lot of damage.

The new Firebat was cool but too bad it was taken out :(

The new Terran unit they are testing/prolly replacing the role of the firebat seems to be interesting, i wonder how it would go

I have never played World of Warcraft, but isn't the level cap 70 or something?

I have never played it, but yes it is 70. It used to be 60 until an expansion came out that increased the level cap.

How can there be a 240 account when the cap is 70? And they need to max that, there are like a thousand players that are level 70. My friend has 3 level 70s.

haha yay i hated the new firebat...it looked like trash in my opinion...

for balance issues its likely another type of infantry, and i'd have to agree with the thoughts against reapers with flamethrowers...the micro aspect of jumping on and off cliffs would be quite an advantage, unless the enemies were ranged.

I think something mimicing toss psi blades would be nifty...i always thought the terrans should have more laser-based weapons...so much of their munitions are ballistic...you'd think a species so advanced might have moved beyond bullets and flame throwers :p

That was what everyone has been saying, but they also say taht since marines come by easy, lasers would be covering the screen, but yeah... They should have lasers if they are that far into the future lol.

Blizzard took out the flamethrower from the Goliath and turned it into a firebat. (A good change i thought)

In the end i don't really care where, I just want to see the graphics of flame-throwing from any unit at all.
