Installation was the one where you couldn't build anything, and usually just started with a hero and a raiding party. It was also the one that had the doors and gates, and auto-turret traps in the floor and walls. It was never used for ordinary games, always for missions or UMS games.

If you voted for the wrong one, I'd be happy to vote for the Installation one for you. I haven't voted yet and I'm still having trouble deciding. I always loved Jungle when I was younger, especially the huge skeletal doodads and the temple-like options, but the others quickly grew on me.

yeah I loved the doodads in installation, but the inability to build kept it from being my favorite

True, but it was never designed for building or normal skirmishes, and in that regard I reckon it's a bit hard to be comparing other tilesets to Installation. All the other tilesets can be used for both normal and UMS games, whereas Installation can only be used for specific (non-building) UMS games. Granted that it's much better equipped for that sort of scenario, but it's definitely not on a level playing field with the other tilesets.

Its not LOL when you are 8 years old... I was scared to death! But they are really funny, and many plots are revealed in those missions.

I liked ice the most, that looked so neutral, and lifelike.. I don't know some other terrains were just weird to play. Like the Char type ash world

Jungle is my favorite because it's a fairly neutral environment that doesn't tip to any one race. Ashworld and Badlands are next on the list.

*necropost because i was going to make a duplicate, theres not enough active threads to reply to and this isn't that old anyway*

Jungle is my favourite at the moment. I really like how the terrain and doodads feel so Aztec. It just has a certain feeling when your fighting in an ancient protoss temple.

I don't know about a least favourite, torn between twilight and desert. twilights really cool but gets a bit dull with the exact same shades and deserts saving grace would be the doodads of terran bases and vehicles and the oil tile.

I voted for the Ice tileset because it is very unique in its own right. It has many uses especially for getting a message across in an RPG-like game. The mood it emits whether on snow or grass is just fitting. It could be a winter wonderland or a frozen wasteland. The possibilities with this tileset are limitless so to speak...

It also makes some very cool looking mini-map pictures!

I really couldn't decide, so I picked Jungle. Jungle is an idea of a lush jungle world, probably Aiur, and fits well with most RPGs as they are usually medieval/fantasy and the ruins, the ancient bridges and the temple works really well. Ice structures are too advanced, and too white and cold, not usually the setting for a medieval RPG, and Badlands grass is too.... dead.

i also like Platform and Ice.

But, the ones I like the least are definitely Ash and Twilight. Ash is bleak and really boring, and somethings are VERY hard to distinguish. Twilight is too blue for me, and is similar with ash - not enough variation.

I voted ice for a couple of reasons, some of which have already been listed. I like the look of the water and dirt, the color of the grass, and the general appearance of the structure tiles. The most noteworthy map I made was on the ice tileset: Latent Fear. I can't remember if I ever posted it here...

I also like most of the other tilesets with the exception of ash. I don't like the dark brown and red that makes up so much of the color scheme and it is generally not aesthetically pleasing.

i loved ice and platform the most(ice a little more). but i hated twilight and even more, ash world. i felt nothing special about twilight, but ash world was just crap. blizzards depiction of 2d lava was miserable, and there could have been so much more blizzard could have done with ash world.

I like twilight because of the color and because of the Protoss mission in Broodwar where you fight the Zerg. The color to me is pretty nice too. My least favorite is ashworld. I just hate it. I always get confused as to whether I can walk somewhere, or not and the color is black which I don't like much.

I actually like ashworld, twilights just so dull and monotonous but ashworld atleast has a variety, it's just a theme i don't get bored off unlike twilight :(

^ Ditto overmind's comment there. My favs are ice and desert, because they're such a contrast compared to the green/brown tilesets, but they don't get monotonous like the blue of Twilight does (probably because there's already so much blue in SC, especially from the toss.
