Favorite pokemon GameBoy series game [poll]

the best were red blue yellow gold and silver, no exceptions.

 

I didn't care for red/blue too much. Yellow was better because pikachu followed you around and the scenery changes colors.

 

I don't think I'll ever understand why having pikachu follow you around is so great...

 

It added more realism to the game.

When you took care of it and trained it well, it liked you and you could see its emotions. Whereas if you were a terrible trainer, it would dislike you.

Also, status effects were visible. When asleep it would show pikachu with its eyes closed, ears wilted, and deep breathing. Poisoned and paralyzed showed pikachu with a pained face and when poisoned pikachu looked sick. When fainted, it went back in its pokeball instead of following you around.

The main reason yellow was great was because you got to be more connected with a Pokemon that no other Pokemon game has had since. I've always wanted Nintendo to redo a Pokemon yellow or make a new game with the same style of having Pokemon follow you instead of them just being in a pokeball.

 

I'd like the idea more if there were other choices and not only pikachu, or if your default first followed you around.

More choices would make it better.

The yellow version was based off the anime series, in which pikachu followed Ash around. Sprites were redone to match the series' characters, and gym leader's pokemon were changed to better match the ones used in the series.

And yes winners "catch the best", I barely ever had a pokedex with more that 50 pokemon, except the diamond/pearl.

 

I do the same, I'd play only with starter if it was possible. Usually I get small team, plus some for HMs early on. And kadabra, that one's a must.

 

In diamond I got a lot of pokemon to help finish the national dex.

After that, I traded a bunch of eevees to my diamond and just trained them, its fun defeating lvl 100 pokemon using lvl 89 eeveelutions.

 

haha, I did that once. It got kinda bornign that way though. I like to build a team, then it becomes more of a skill then "LOL look n00bs, my charizard is lvl 89 on the 1337 4" kind of thing. It made it more challenging at times, but also more enjoyable.

 

LOL. A hardcore eevee and eon fan. ;D It's hard collecting all eevee forms if you don't have someone you know to make a trade. Pokemon games here is rare unlike the past years where you can just connect to anyone.

 

I loved getting a kickass team of 6 different types, then superpowering one and using Exp. Share to rig up every Pokemon in my PC to 50.

Then those can do the Elite 4.

I've restarted Fire Red right now, level 16 Charmeleon, 9 Pikachu.
I'm trying to beat the Elite 4 on Emerald. Which is a bitch since I picked Treecko, now a 50 Sceptile.
Then Friday I'm buying a DS and Pearl, while my two friends are grabbing Diamond.

 

Yeah. I picked Treecko too and it totally sucks.

You were already breeding eevees anyway, 6 of them didn't matter to you. Maybe I'll get one ore so I can get an umbreon as well, then I will have all seven of them.

 

If you want to piss people off, get an all female Eevee team, get each form, and give them all Attract.

Also, Attract, Confuse Ray, anything that paralyzes is frustrating. Like, throw your Gameboy at a wall frustrating.

I remeber you did that once, and laughed about it. Still a very strange combination, what moves did it know when it hatched?

 

it knew dig, take down, then the standard tackle and growl.

 

I breeded Eevee evolutions before. It's fun.
I had an Espeon with Flamethrower, Hydro Pump, Thundershock, and Faint Attack.

So it had a bit of everything. Until D/P came along.

 

no. evee can't learn those moves from being bred. xD faint attack yes. it couldn;t learn and major elemental moves.
