I generally hate mods that rig or modify previously created content. The best mod is the mod that adds to the game. New locations, new quests, new items, new abilities, new concepts sometimes... these are good. Changing attributes of previous items, reworking the main storyline to fit some other theme, killing off quests you don't like to make room for ones you do... these are bad.

See, I'm the complete opposite. I hate additions, unless it's purely optional and fits the storyline, I much prefer modifications, as long as they're not uber.

For instance, my fave right now is WMK, which adds the ability to modify your weapons based on your repair skill. Or one called Nuclear Winter, which adds seasons.

And depending on how it's done, reworking the storyline can be interesting. For instance, there's a mod that places you in the role of an Enclave soldier.

I'm definitely talking about additions that are optional and extraneous.

    WMK ADDS the ability.
    Nuclear Winter ADDS seasons.

A reworked storyline loses the harmony between concept of plot and concept of environment that was originally finely tuned by the game designer/s, IMO.

    I thought you meant like...

A whole new weapon set. A whole new armor. A new breed of enemy.

Mine are modifications of existing game files.

What's wrong with the addition of a new weapon set or armor? Or enemy, for that matter? So long as it's all optional...

Because it throws off the balance of the game. If you add a new area, with new armor, new guns, and new enemies, ok, that's fine. But if you dump, say, a Ghoulified super mutant in the Wasteland, well, what?

However, I would NOT be opposed to a classic double barreled shotgun. Why is it that every single shotgun in the entire DC area has its barrel sawed off? IT MAKES NO SENSE

It makes sense if you add a new enemy called the Shotgnawer that has a compulsive mental issue with sawing off and consuming shotgun barrels. commonly found wherever you find a sawed-off shotgun.

What if said ghoulified super mutant is given a character name and background, and you can either kill him and take the only available double-barreled shotgun in the game from him, or recruit him, if your speech skill is high enough upon the random encounter with him?

Because Super Mutants can't be Ghoulified, they're immune to radiation, the primary factor in creating a ghoul, due to their creation by the FEV.

Now, I suppose it would be possible to have a Ghoul who's been Super Mutated.

Either way, the gun would have to be called Double Trouble. And his name would have to be Goody Two-Shots.

The unique version only, of course. The others would just be a "Shotgun"

    To the GECK!!

I'm not a fan of 40k... Is there a Starcraft mod for it yet?

I'm a burgeoning fan. Personally, I just think that Space Marine armor> BoS armor.

    Oh.

    Oh no.

    Save me.

Enclave armor and a Gatling Laser?

    PUH-LEEZ.

They're no match for the might of the Imperium.

EDIT: Butch is being a douchebag and hiding, and I can't get Charon to equip his minigun, so he's pointblanking them with a shotgun. Oh well.
