Evidence of a spiked carapace upgrade!

Prodigal is right i looked at the pics and i c the difference alot thre is a very distinct difference. the hydra in pic 7 look kida like the old hydra in sc1 but then in 4 they get all these sick spikes and crap i do believe they do get a skiped carapace upgrade

 

I notice that they grow a lot of spines when they open up to attack sometimes, but that's about it.

 

I think it would be a cool idea for the upgrade, make them harder to kill and look even more deadly.

 

I think I might have just found the answer. It looks as though those spikes only flare up when they're attacking. If you look at this screenshot, you'll see that one of the Hydralisks (right), that has just Unburrowed, doesn't have the spikes, but the other Hydralisk (left), that's already attacking, does.

It looks like it is revealing the area where it grows the spines.

Don't you notice the tiny spikes on the head of the left one?

 

On the Hydralisk on the left hand side there are some spikes on the front of the middle section of the crest, and there aren't any on the one on the right.
It appears to only be when they're attacking. It's not an upgrade.

 

So that was the evidence for upgrade? No wonder no one noticed it ;p

I didn't think it could have spikes there, it only makes the new design worse

 

It could be the attack animation, but we need some video proof. Next time they have a match ask the zerg player, if they have one, to zoom in on the hydralisk and see if the spikes appear when attacking.

 

How isn't this decent enough proof? One of the Hydralisks is attacking, and it's got the spikes, the other has just Unburrowed and isn't attacking, and it hasn't got any.

 

To finalize, so we can stop bickering about this topic and bicker about something else.
