I think if you say GG in the ingame chat to the other player and nothing else in that sentence just GG, then your game should freeze and a popup should appear and say "Do you want to surrender?" And give you the yes/no option. Yes and you surrender, no and you go back to your game and can play it just as you resumed it. And yes while the "Do you want to surrender?" is on your screen, you can't play but your opponent can and he can still attack you. He won't know you've GG'd if you press no. He will only know if you press yes.

I know this is not how it happens in SC2. But I think it's a good idea. And maybe it should work on Good Game as well as GG. I dunno. But I like the idea. And it'll stop early false GGs.

When I gg sometimes people don't gg back but write thx or ty. What is in your opinion the connotation of that? I'm not sure if it is just friendly (and an alternative to the sometimes empty phrase of gg) or if it is somewhat condescending and a more or less friendly way to tell the other person that one did not consider that a good game, as in "thank you for telling me I gave you a good game but I cannot say the same because you just didn't give me a good game but I will be so nice to not expressly say so ".

Someone tried that on me recently: He gg'ed and started to chat ("do you play a lot?" etc). I chatted with him and answered his questions. When no more questions were coming I was like "well then..." but realized a few moments later that he had used the time to build a few units. It didn't help him but it was even more ridiculous because what he rebuilt would not have been enough in years - thus making not only a **** of himself but also a fool. I demolished it and went on to destroy his base - and he even tried it a second time!!!

Do people like you have not the slightest bit of self respect?

It's too much in the gray-area without more context. It certainly lends itself to a less friendly interpretation, but the person could also just be misinterpreting your intial gg or just unintentionally insensitive. They might also just not agree with you, but not necessarily in a way that reflects on your play. I know if I didn't think of something as a good game (say a douche for a partner, whether I won or lost) I might be less likely to reciprocate. Or heck, if I did say "thx" I might be thinking something like "yeah, that was REALLY good play considering", and not necessarily anything directly aimed at you.

One time I was in random 2v2, other team was zerg terrian, we were prot ter

and 10 seconds in other team was like "we just won game in 4 minutes"

Rushed the butt hole out of my partner and proceded to die vs my mass stalker colsi.

So while I won't say much about gging earlier or w/e, don't say you won.

gg only means good game, it says nothing about who they think won.

if you use the chat to confuse your opponent, you are an asshole. end of story. play the game for what it is. chat is not supposed to be part of the gameplay. I played against a guy who said he was noob in bronze league who didn't know what he was doing. he then proceeded to cannon me. His base was completely unprotected and I killed his main with 4 lings, then built up some roaches and lings to take out the pylons and he left. The little **** waited to see if I could beat his cannons that he already had even though he had no possible source for income. You can't say "this is a warzone, anything to win!11!! olol!", this is a game, and it has a league and a ranking system that is supposed to be based on skill, not douchebaggery and lies.

Prawn, I'm a bit confused by your post.

Ok, let's just assume this is true.

The natural implication here is your telling a story about one of those assholes you refer to above, apparantly trying to confuse you by claiming he was a noob.

Uh wait, you killed his base with 4 lings? So he WAS telling the truth? "Unprotected" or not 4 lings are only going to trump his workers if he is a noob.

    So confused.

Sounds like he did say the truth imo. He was a noob and he tried to cannon rush(I don't see why a noob shouldn't try cheese tactics), he tried and apparently failed as his base was an open field.

The point would be valid imo if said guy claiming to be noob actually had a well defended base and could handle his workers while on the same time doing a successful canon rush :p
