directional splatter kill-graphics?

  1. Then the people with "directional splatter" on still lose.

    I don't think the unit has to be on a cliff to remain unspotted. As long as say a Siege Tank stays out of sight, it can blast stuff away no matter elevation. And even if that's not the case, there are instances where there are several cliffs the attacking unit could be standing on, as Overmind pointed out.
     
  3. 1) When are you going to be walking through a trench surrounded by cliffs without air support?
    2) The point is that the advantage (if there is one) of having this option on is unfathomably minimal.
    3) As for the above, it depends on what game you're talking about. In the original, yes, you are right. I was just talking about normal circumstances.

    I don't see why this particular feature would be a togglable option in the first place. Splatter-direction would definitely convey information about the battlefield- you can't make features optional when they convey meaningful information.

    There are a lot of ways you can give players an option to have different levels of the effect- for example, the lowest-end machines might have a simple explosion/blood-cloud that drifts in the direction a splatter would go, while the highest-end machines could handle effects with dozens of parts.
