    Well there is a pretty sizeable debate going on as far as Phase Cannons and there has been ideas for a new ability thrown out there.

    I am aware of the discussion
    I have been following it.

    I am simply asking you to state your thoughts here on if you like or dislike about the defenses and any other comments you have.

    I would also like to note that while there is much discussion on the Phase cannon there hasn't been much talk about the zerg defenses

    I think this discussion was disrupted a fair bit by the recent changes of the Protoss and Zerg defences.
    Personally, I feel that Terran defences are great. The only thing that I'm not all that happy about are the Mine Drones that are deployed by the Nomad, but they hardly count as proper defences anyway. I still feel that it has to be changed in one way or another though.

    The Protoss defences are still solid, but they could do with a bit more. Not any more buildings or anything, but their defences need some level of flash to them. Although I didn't agree with the Phase Cannon being able to move outside of the Psionic Matrix, it still needs to have a mechanic similar to this. My suggestion would be that instead of melding into a Phase or Energy Mode, it should just be able to warp to another location on the Psionic Matrix, as I described it earlier, it's like a longer Blink. Protoss use their Warp In technology everywhere. Their units are warped in, their buildings are warped in, they can now warp in units to almost any location with the Warp Gate, the Phase Prism and Mothership enable more versatility when warping in, Stalkers can instantly warp to a nearby location and the list goes on. It only makes sense for the Phase or Photon Cannons to be able to do this instead of having their previous mobile mode.

    With Zerg, I'm disappointed about their recent change. They'd been given a whole new and unique system of defence, but now it's practically been reverted back to the level of StarCraft1. Yeah, the Queen still drops them and they can move about now, but so what? It's still much less unique than it was before. Creep Tumours, Sunken/Swarm Clutches and Shriekers looked like such a fun system to muck around with, getting them arranged as effectively as possible, but now it's just the Colonies again. The uprooting ability is an old one. It's nothing special and it's not unique. They say that all that squirming and crawling suits the Zerg, but it doesn't suit Zerg buildings. Units, definitely, but buildings, hardly.

    I know that people were disappointed and annoyed that Sunken and Spore Colonies were taken away, but I feel that that was because enough wasn't known or understood about their replacements. My one concern with the original StarCraft2 defences was that I felt the Overlord should have kept its Detection ability but it's been taken by the Shrieker. Shriekers still increases the range of Sunken/Swarm Clutches, but that wouldn't really be enough. If they could be given a different ability instead and then give Detection back to the Overlord, that would be perfect in my opinion.
