Not unless they pulled the blade back like the zealots can, kind of retract the blade if you know what I mean.

The Dark Templar's scythe would also have retractable blades. The blades are just conjured by the Protoss' mind, so if they stop conjuring it, then the blades will disappear. It has been suggested previously in this thread that the reason they can't hurt themselves with their own blades is because they stop conjuring them when the blades would otherwise cut off their arm.

How did Fenix die as a zealot, though?

Oooh that is a good point, because it looked like he ran out of power how else would his blade have short circuited? Very nice dig. Do you mind if I call you dig for short lol.

He was overrun by Zerg, and something happened with his blades. They never actually explain what exactly happened to them.

No but the clip did show his blade just vanish and he looked confused as to why, this should be researched. Because it defies all the blades being controlled by the user. It might have to be a mix of the power of the user and some sort of power source. Or there is a power source that feeds to the blade and the Protoss use their minds to control that energy.

Well the Zerg out lurked him and I think it would have been hard to out lurk an army of zerg by yourself. Hey i'm a recruit sweet.

note its psi blade technology, they would need something to channel the psi energy into a blade.

He didn't pay his psilectricity bills, 'nuff said.

DT must have some way to cloak their blades, if they didn't they would be fairly visible in a fight - at least marines would know in which direction to shoot

Maybe they don't cloak their blades, but instead, they produce invisible blades.

My understanding of protoss tech is that the crystals allow them to channel the psi energy, and that their mind psi powers are part of that. Fenix could of lost power because of a damaged crystal.

I like the new dark templar weapon. Different from the regular zealots and more of an assassins weapon.

Thats a good point Hex, DT's have a different upbringing being surrounded by the dark energies so why couldn't they have learned to produce invisible blades. Of course it doesn't help that they show up green on SC :p but yeah we know that the blades can be cloaked because the Artributer (sp?) does in fact cloak everything including Zealot blades so we know blades can be cloaked so the Dt just learned how to cloak everything on their person. Personally the only reason I really want to see the sword back is because I'm gonna miss the *Zwii* *Zwii* sound that they produced when they attacked. It always gave me joy to listen to that slash that lets my opponent know he's been DT rushed.

Hehe, I always feared that sound when playing against Protoss, but even if they did keep the sword, the sound would be changed anyway. Anyone know what the new sound is like?

Zerg were the only ones that made it hard to DT rush, it was doable but just hard. But yes they would change the sound but still loved it. O well the new DT still look pretty good so I can't really complain.

I wonder if the Dark Templar rush will still be possible or if they'll make it a higher tier/more expensive unit. Zergling rushes will obviously still be possible, and Terran didn't really have a unit to rush, so it'd be a shame if they took away the Dark Templar rush.

Most definitely. Then again people are going to come up with ridiculous strategies with SC2 so even if you can't DT rush anymore they'll be something. And you could M&M rush with Terran, its a little harder but still doable.
