Man I found that creating a mod file is almost totally critical if you are making more then 1 map at a time or if you are going off a theme.

Whoops, I could have told you that... they found a way to convert a map to a mod over at sc2mapster.com though.

I was curious on a few more things. Does anyone know how to make a map a blizzard map or how to get the story and campaign scripts to actually work in a map? I have been looking everywhere and couldn't really find anything about this. Also wanted to see how people would like a campaign that is derived from the end of the main campaign. I am working on creating a campaign from the end of the main one which is more or less like the zerg expansion.

I think Blizzard selects which maps become blizzard maps, and even then I don't think they are adding any more. What do you mean by the story and campaign scripts?

If you launch the map and watch the script debugger it will show Calling Campaign Mode is not authorized. I used that as just an example.

Try editing map/game settings other than the data/triggers to make it a campaign.

Well I mean I have quite a map going and is going to be the start of my campaign it is just that with those settings with will be extremely easier to store and call settings for future maps because it doesn't seem to let me store triggers in a mod file.

That's what trigger libraries are for.

I am sorry but I am not sure what you mean by that. Are you talking about banks or data tables for triggers?

Go in to your trigger library, and tell it to show Libraries.

Sweet thanks. That will help a lot when creating multiple maps. Almost done with the first map though trying to figure out this next map action. Keeps saying that it can not load map.

Okay I finally figured out the next map thing.

There is a folder in your starcraft folder called maps go figure and the map that the action is calling has to be in that folder.

    So the action would be
Game - Set the next map to "Whatever"

Oh the questions. So now I was wondering how to start the mission timer for a map. What I am talking about is on the victory screen for the normal campaign on the top where it says Mission Time then the actual time it took.

    Code to do it
    Time
    Events
Timer - Every 1.0 seconds of Real Time
    Local Variables
    Conditions
    Actions
    Variable - Modify Time: + 1
Data Table - Save Time as "Time" in the Global data table
General - If (Conditions) then do (Actions) else do (Actions)
    If
    Victory == Victory
    Then
Trigger - Turn (Current trigger) Off
    Else

Decided to change his abilities. What does everyone think that Jim Raynor should really have ability wise. I have him with the mauader effect and toss grenades right now. I think I will prolly leave it at that though

Woah man. No need to quadruple post. Simply edit your last post. You are forging new territory here what with making your own campaign (at least for starcraft2forum.org you are) so a lot of your questions are really hard to figure out. This thread will probably be used in creating a little tutorial on making campaigns.

As for raynor, I really like the Raynor Commando - Railgun Snipe ability.

Wow yea I didn't even notice. Believe me once I figure it out I will be creating a tutorial because I am going on over week for the first map. :D What do you think of a campaign starting where the main campaign leaves off? I am hoping to get some good reviews though want to know what people think first you know. Its going to be like the terran campaign except zerg with all of the jazz.

I think you can create a very well flowing campaign like blizzards with the use of banks though I am not fully sure on how to use them.

I haven't even finished the campaign, so I'm not sure what to tell you. And yes, banks will be very helpful probably.

I would advise not making a campaign picking up after the current campaign as Blizzard is going to release 2 more games (zerg next, then protoss) to follow the game.

I think you should make a game from the dominion view, show the dominion fighting the zerg. it would be a fresh perspective and it would give you free reign over creating your own heroes and such.

for example, you could have an entire campaign on the one world, with the final mission driving them off (or consuming the world) it's all up to you :D

but definately DON'T continue the current campaign, i have seen many people try to follow on from Blizzard campaign and people compare their campaign to the blizzard campaign, so even if you do a great job, if it is **** compared to the blizzard campaign, that is all people will remember.

I hope that helped... I kinda rambled on a bit there :D
