Oh yes! And we will spend at least that much to upgrade our computers so we can play it!
    Mutalisk will also stay.

Re: Zerg units to be revealed...!

If anyone recalls the pictures that were discovered a while back w/ the concept art of the "zerg units", then we could say that the vicious dog unit could either be an mutated hydra or its replacement. Likewise, if it were big, it could also be a mutated form or the ultra or its replacement.
But there are 2 things to keep in mind:
-We don't know what that unit can do (it could shoot acid or explod or w/e) there is, as of right now, no way to tell
-The credibility of the pictures (they may be completely unrelated to SC2)
As far as zerg units we can be sure of:
    -Zergling (in the demo)
    -Baneling (also in demo)
    -Mutalisk (again: demo)
I'm not too terribly active on the forums, so if there was any more news found out on those concept pics, please let me know!

Re: Zerg units to be revealed...!

You really can't say mutalisk, baneling, or zergling are staying. Or even hydralisk. Remeber, the reaver was in concept art, but it was scrapped. The thor was announced in on the website, but its role is completely different. The cobra was scrapped, but announced in the demo. So anytrhing's possible right now.

    Good point....
But still: Consider the fact that blizzard's main goal is to make money, as with any other company.
So they have to think about the average consumer and reactions they will have towards certain events.
What do you believe the fans of SC would have to say if Blizz took out the Zergling?

Re: Zerg units to be revealed...!

    Exactly lol
But then again, people wouldn't really mind if they took out the ling, so long as they replaced it with something that is almost identical to it.
But if they were to put in a unit like that, why wouldn't they just make it a mutated form?
And since the zergling already has the Baneling, and is only a first tier unit (which would lead me to assume it would not have more that 1 mutated form) then I would not think they would have a second.
Then again, they could always cut the Baneling.
But I'm almost certain that the Zergling is a-shoin' because they are already thinking of mutated forms of it.
It has everything to do with how you look at it.

I dont think the baneling is a tier 1 unit. I think it will require a lair

    All it does is explode...
Why would it need a lair?
    I meant the zergling anyways.
Mutalisks have 2 mutated states, but are a higher tier.

Re: Zerg units to be revealed...!

Cobra was scrapped?! Oh JOY!!! I was wondering about that..... Cobra is gona yay!!!

But yah..... zerg units should have more evolving things....... and mutal should evolve itself into all-rounded units for extreme minteral as well.... I don't recall Zerg every having capital ship.... or capital creature..... that'd be cool to become that way.

    @ Angels

What was wrong with the cobra, it was one of the units I was looking forward to using the most.

About the baneling, I think it will be a tier 2 unit. The colossus is tier 4 and in the demo, we saw a group of banelings completely destroy zealots and 1 colossus easy and almost killing the other one as well.

Sure all it does is explode, but it will probably do at least 100 damage, making it very effective at destroying enemy bases and units.

I heard from some one what the actual damage was (although it could've been a rumour) and I think it was 45-ish. I'll try to find my unreliable source and update this post. :D

In starcraft2armory they say it does 75 damage, so it is a little lower than I expected. However, the site has been wrong before and the damage value will definately change for balancing.

But ifwe still says it does like 50 dmg Splash/AOE, for acost at arond 25 min + 25 min + 25 gas = 50min+ 25 gas is a fair amount. But it would completly destroy terran if it was tier 1. It could kick marines + workers

Re: Zerg units to be revealed...!

    Yeah, good point Eon.
And i suppose it is quite a bit faster than the infested terrans...I guess....
But I was originally talking about the Zergling being a tier 1 unit, so it probably won't have more than one mutated state I would expect.

In the gameplay video one Banelings did about 40 damage to the colossus.

I hope Banelings will be at least tier 2

Also, in one of the Starcraft books (Shadow off the Xel'Naga) a really big, blue dog gets infested and General Duke sees it and he calls it a "Roverlisk". Perhaps Blizzard will put this unit into a campaign mission, definently not an actual unit, but just as an Easter Egg.

Yes, the "Roverlisk" have been mentioned before in some other thread. I think it was Ijffdrie.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that's when they'll have their Zerg announcement video. They've pretty much finished with Protoss and Terran. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't announce Zerg there, after all, Blizzard has done stranger things.
