Last post was made over a month ago, so it ain't no double post, alright? I just realized something. the Colossus can be hit at two different locations. Does this mean that a Mutalisks glave wurm can bounce up and down between the two points? Mutalisks might be excellent counters for Colossi if this is the case.
lol I highly doubt that. A more interesting case arises with units that have different attack types (and especially damage values) for ground and air. Will they attack with the better one or will their second attack type get axed?
Haha, don't worry about the 'double post'. It would be interesting, but I doubt it would be the case because it's still the same target. If so, then Mutalisks would be two to three time as effective against Colossus' depending on the number of jumps you can get on the same Colossus. It'd be great for Zerg players to get an effective counter against the Colossus because at the moment it seems as though it'd rip through almost all their ground forces with ease. However for the Protoss to have such a powerful and expensive unit that is vulnerable to an easily swarmable Zerg unit that it can't even hit seems odd, but I guess that's where all the new tactics comes in. If you mass Colossus, then they'll mass Mutalisks, so you'll mass Phoenixes, etc, etc. However I can easily understand if they aren't able to. After all, it's still the same target.
Ok, so here's something that has crossed my mind since the Colossus and the Warp Ray showed up. How will their damage be affected by armor, considering how they have dps now? Let's say that a Siege Tank has 2 armor, will the Colossus deal 144 minus 2 = 142 dmg or will the armor reduce dps - meaning 24dps minus 2 dps = 22 dps ---> 132 dmg? Ofc, I know that the actual damage type isn't described "dps" per se, but you get my drift. This is a big deal since it will affect two of toss' main damage dealing units. Any ideas? Something I've missed? PS. Will someone remind me if Zealots in SC1 lost 1 dp(damage point) if an enemy had 1 armor or 2 since the Zealots actually dealt their 16 dp in two strikes? PPS. Thank's for a great forum! I'm not a regular poster - but I am an avid follower and read all of your post with delight. Tnx guys!
I still think Mutalisk>Phoenix, Mutalisk will probably be faster and more agile since the Phoenix is a ship and the top boost speed isn't instant but Mutalisks use their own power meaning they should and I'm sure they will be faster on the short term, so Mutalisks could just out micro the Phoenix. I'd say for Protoss to beat a Mutalisk swarm of 20+ they would need Stalkers and Phoenix but again Mutalisks are still a very strong unit to counter. Without the Corsair, Protoss are vulnrable to Zerg air.
yeah, im very intresting in that new protoss air unit (i made the topic )! Back to topic, collosus + stalkers, how shall that be countered?
Seems outrageous, but then again, so does the colossus itself. could be an interesting counter indeed. What I am much more interested to see is scourges crashing into them XD As dangerous as the colossus will no doubt be, they will be that much more fun to destroy.
If Zerg do keep an air suicide unit, which I'd rather they didn't Colossus would get owned majorly. And Stalker support one be fast enough to get all the Scourge, or maybe they will ;]
Hence why the colossus needs stalker or pheonix support. Scourges would be an interesting counter, and would have more use now, rather than just being used to kill science vessels.
The best quess I've seen is from sc2armory but that site can easily be wrong, but here is what it has: life:300 shield:150 mineral:300 gas:200
Okay, but im not rally trusting sc2armory I think my guess would be: 300/200 (perhaps with a shield upgrade) 300 minerals 150 gas
o wow 50 off gg. @Seradin, I agree the Phoenix seems to be very weak. Its just a scout with an ability and less air attack power.
