colossus beam red or blue?

Yes and mayb colour code they protoss yellow too then we wont be able to recodnize protoss at all.... no not realy.

 

Well, its easy to say...

When you say 'Laser' anytime, automatically people think of red lazers, such as lazer lights ..etc.

So its more appropriate for the description. XD

 

I would say its orange.

 

just so everyone knows, it's "Laser" with an "S," since it is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

oh and I don't really care what color the laser is, as long as it kills ;D

 

Can't say I mind the red at all... A blue laser might be too much. Maybe have one laser be blue and the other be red.

do you like disco dance me too? i like to go to disco with friends, sometimes i dance with new people. i like dancin with girls but sometimes these strong guys make me dance with them, i get scared so i just dance, but i just pretend like im playing Starcraft SO ITS OK!

The current Colossi beams remind me of the Terran which had the red ones first.

But I admit they look nice in contrast with the golden blue Colossal.

No green wouldn't be a good choice. That's more for Zerg with their various acids and sludges.

But I'm wondering now if the Dark Templar will correctly have their green blades unlike the white ones in Starcraft Brood War.

Yeah, they had laser blades; Really pimp ones at that. I don't even think they need to change the sound that they made when they were slicing a group apart. It may have been one of my favorite sounds.

now i know. i sense a dark templar and jedi battle going on. lol

i hope dark templars will have cool attack animations in starcraft 2. i hope they can jump up a cliff and have a cool passive skill like slicing their enemies in a blink of an eye even against bigger unit like the Goliath well with long cooldown ofcourse.

does anyone think that the colossus beams should attack separate targets

heres an idea... it can have two modes, one where they focus on one enemy target together and one where they attack different ones

the single target would be better for heavily armored enemies / buildings and the dual targeting would be better for small weak enemies like zerglings and marines

it could even have smart targeting and when in dual target mode if you click to attack one thing then another,  one beam will attack each target chosen

 

@Gah345: The idea of the beams striking different units have already been used in another game, with similiar walker-type units. C&C3, Scrin Annihilator, has just this ability, i am afraid...

 

that doesnt mean starcraft cannot use it

 

Personally I like the red better. If gives a feeling of menace and destruction. It fits with the colossus better because the colossus was the first robot designed by the protoss for war (and retired originally because it was too good at what it did) Red for destruction. The rest of the robots should be blue for mining, etc. because they were used as workers.

Does this have anything to do with the frequencies of the beams themselves? No. I just think it would be a good thematic.

 

Blue is fine for Protoss lasers and photon weapons, but the red is much more fitting to the Colossus since it has thermal lances. Hot objects are typically associated with red, so if the beams were changed to be blue many people would find it strange with the whole heat idea. I think it's best to just leave it the way the lances are, even if they don't quite fit in with the rest of the Protoss.
