The WWII setting got really old for me. I'm glad they switched to modern times. The only good WWII game recently is CoH.

I'll have to agree with you on that. I'm mostly a fantasy and sci-fi guy.

Although considering how great Call of Duty 4 turned out, I just couldn't pass it up and it's a lot of fun even if I'm not too crazy about the setting or story.

I totally agree with you. I have been hoping for an exceptional Vietnam war game forever. I would assume it would be alot of cover play and would take place in dense foliage in the jungles OR in small farming communities. Personally I enjoyed COD2 played it once, never online and that was that. COD4 however is a GREAT online experience. Its very elegant and well mechaniced and the map design is top notch. Finding out what weapons and positions to take on certain maps takes alot of practice. Its very fun and intense. Some of the confrontations (especially when you win) feel very well paced and epic!

I'm a huge fan of the first Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2, which are both made by infinity ward (instead of treyarche who makes the lower quality, odd numbered Call of Dutys). I was definatly thinking of getting this game, becuase I can now run it on my new pc but there have been so many great pc games in 07 it's really mindblowing. The choices are either CoD4, Bioshock, Oblivion, GoW, UT3, Crysis, BF2142, or the company of hero's. Maybe i'll World in Conflict as well.

Anyways, i just have one question. How is the CoD4 multiplayer? Are the maps bigger like in CoD or are they cramped like CoD2? The CoD2 multiplayer was kind of fun at times, but the grenade spamming just ruined the game. But the thing is, you can't just take grenades out of the game entirely becuase sometimes theyr'e necessary. However, in CoD2 you would literally die once u spawn becuase of grenades... especcially in el alamein.

I would say it lands somewhere in the middle. The maps are often H shaped and could be sized at about the size of 2-3 city blocks.

Grenades being tossed early are still a statistical threat. Lol.

EA had absolutely nothing to do with this game. It came out before they bought Activision. I own this game for the Xbox 360, and I would definately reccomend buying this if you own a 360 or a PS3. It's one of my favorite games. The multiplayer is sick, also!

The multiplayer is more addictive then anything else out there right now. Hardcore Search and Destroy is the best mode though, IMO. Very strategic and tense.

Yes, but the core game is in the intensity of 18 player battles :)

my son rented this game and now he wants to buy it. I can see why, it is a pretty awesome game. My reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I'm pretty much dead meat in a FPS like this one, but still, I agree, the graphics and gameplay are top notch. Very awesome game. Oh, and yes, I was a bit disappointed to hear the CoD5 will be a WWII shooter.

I've got a PS3. I actually wanted COD4 on the PS3, however the 360 version had been on sale for 34.99, and it was such a bargain I could not pass it up. I heard the performance of it is identical.

As far as consoles go, the 360 was the console to own last year, however this year we will see the highest profile PS3 releases, as far as exclusives go (compared to the 360).
