My teachers at the university I attend use IE, so its obviously not as bad as GM says it is. The computers we have can run FF and IE, but the teachers I've seen prefer IE.

And my teachers are not high school class level teachers, some have a Masters while my others are Ph.D. Never tried FF, but I wonder why they don't use it.

Ever thought about them being obliged to use IE? They get a discount for their Windows copies under certain conditions you know.

So which one are you seeing the top or bottom because when I use IE 7 I see the top when I use Firefox I see the bottom.

It does lack the glow and it does not look like a glow (bottom) but hopefully they would improve things

Not being able to see glow might be a minor downside, but that doesn't matter. As long as it can understand CSS programming better then IE, you won't hear any complaints from me.

Firefox for life! Burn PC's with opera! (although that gesture function DOES have a high coolness-factor)

I would also say IE 7 is runs smoother and is more pleasing to the eyes (which is high on my priority list). But those are both determined by the eye of the beholder. Also I have yet to see IE 7 have any stability issues, on top of that I rarely use addons for anything anyways.
