    I think it should be a Hive Matriach ability, similar to Spawn Broodling for Air units:

    150 Energy, air targets only.
    Destroys the unit, and puts 2 Scourge units in its place with a very short lifespan. If a unit is destroyed by those Scourges, two more pop up, and so on and so forth.

    WOah!! hold your horsies, would that mean that all terrans Banshees will die in a moment for 1 skill useage? now thats quite unfair wouldnt you think to have an ability take down an expensive air unit like carriers or cruisers in a flash.. and in fact its very illogical too, as to see a unit about maximum 15-20ft and probably 5-10tons being able to take down massive behemoths way out of its capacity...

    Anyway, its a good thought, and probably possible to be emitted by a unit such as the Queen, the only thing is that its gonna be a recycled idea/reverse pattern of whats the previous starcraft was about, and that is basically what they are trying to lessen by the number ^_^

    All the banshees in a very short radius(ie if there's a chain of them with a few spaces between them, then it'll follow the chain, but if there's more than 3 or so matrix squares between the units, the Scourge'll die before it gets there. In addition, the fact that the Queen can only be in one place, and it takes quite a bit of energy to both use, and upgrade it.

    Though you are right, it would be a rehash of a previous ability. I want some cheap, fast AA that can keep up with my Lings.

    Scourge were cool and very good at countering, but we do want something different and the Corrupter were more interesting than the Scourge, since they can 'corrupt' units and able to control those corrupted units which is awesome! :D

    The corruptor is my favorite new zerg unit; they look so good, and have an interesting mechanic, something I would have never guessed. The scourge got beaten to a pulp in usage by those infamous and nasty corruptors =P
     
  8. The scourge had a good run...
    but if people really want a parallel, perhaps they could give the baneling the ability to float/fly with volatile gases (like a really dangerous balloon).

    To those proposing the idea of scourge emerging from a corrupred unit:

    This is actually exactly how the Scourge (then Avenger) was originally envisioned (in a way) -emerging from dead Overlords an Guardians.

    Yeah, i recall it now that was the time when i didnt bother playing Starcraft.. not until broodwar came out

    Don't want to see the Scourge return in original form.
    Love the Corruptor, and banelings are interesting.

    Would like to see cheap easily massed kamikaze ground units that can scale cliffs.
    Cost 50 min for group of 4 each does 50 dmg upon impact.

    Imagine how annoying it would be to have to defend against a bunch of exploding grasshoppers that just zip into your base over you defenses.

    This would pay homage to scourge and scarabs.

    Scourges were fun until you would forget to target the actual carrier and they tried to hit the interceptors o_O
     
  16. In the original Scourges were definately a crucial must have .. But, the Zerg have Corrupters and other ways to deal with air ... Now, they need ways to deal with the increased defense of the Terrans, and a solution to that problem is the Baneling.

    Actually, that was the name of the Scourge long before ANY of us were playing it :D

    as some have said, the Corruptor has taken the place of the scourge.

    and personally i think its great they took out the scourge.. it was the ling of air but now they have the corruptor for that.

    Personally I'm happy with the scourge being replaced with the corrupter. The way the corrupters look is just awesome.
