    I've secretly installed a spy cam in your room, and I only give out brain teasers when I see that you are in bed.

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    heres 1, for a pet probe answer this......
    if you dont understand too bad thats part of the problem

    qwert
    x4
    =trewq
    q=? w=? e=? r=? t=?

    dont cheat.. hehe this is open for 1 day if nobody gets it by then then ill tell the answer

    EDIT: oh yeah rules: no edits, first 1 with correct answer wins, and if you can tell me how u figured it out.

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    damn cant mathematically figure this out =(
    unless each letter can have more than one digit.....

    EDIT:
    Q = 8 / 17 / 10 / 1 / 6 / 1
    W = 5 / 23 / 4 / 4 / 9 / 4
    E = 5 / 5 / 22 / 4 / 5 / 0
    R = 9 / 18 / 9 / 9 / 7 / 9
    T = 2 / 20 / 7 / 7 / 2 / 7

    x 4

    T = 2 / 20 / 7 / 7 / 2 / 7
    R = 9 / 18 / 9 / 9 / 7 / 9
    E = 5 / 5 / 22 / 4 / 5 / 0
    W = 5 / 23 / 4 / 4 / 9 / 4
    Q = 8 / 17 / 10 / 1 / 6 / 1

    can you gimme a hint? does the answer having anything relating to those figures? o.0

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    ok heres you hint, each letter stands for a number 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0 one of those and no 2 letters are the same number, figure the rest out,
    its basic arithmetic principles, try figureing out what numbers a letter cant be then do guesswork from there if you still need help

    i figured this same problem out when i was 11 in algebra class with no help and it only took 15 minnutes

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    they are comprehensible. its a formula with variables, using 4 variables, only each variable stands for a digit in a number rather than a number.

    ok heres your last hint, try and figure out what q stands for first.

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    If any of them is = 0, then the rest can be any value.

    You did say "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0," so that would include zero as a possibility.

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    that makes no sence remy, but if you think it works go for it, remember each letter is a different number

    Edit: also if you think about it arithmaticly, the only way a number can equal 0 is if they all equal 0 but as i stated above they are all different so (extra hint) none are 0

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    As an algebraic expression, qwertx4 = trewq is understood as q*w*e*r*t*4 =t*r*e*w*q. So if even one of the variables is zero, the rest is zero because "qwert" is q times w times e times r times t.

    Re: Brain teaser / puzzle corner

    no your thinking of it all wrong its not like that it would be like, 12345 x4 =54321 but that doesent work, get it now?
    EDIT:if you really want it complex and all mathmatical it would be

    {t+(r x 10)+(e x 100)+(w x 1000)+(q x 10000)} x 4= q+(w x 10)+(e x 100)+(r x 1000)+(t x 10000)
    0<q<10, 0<w<10, 0<e<10, 0<r<10, 0<t<10
    all whole numbers

    see? making it fully mathmatical doesent help, just makes it seem much more complex.

    Post edit edit: in fact written like that makes it impossible for a noncomputer to figure out, thats why i posted it the other way.
