I'm gonna have to say the best TBS Ive played ever is Fire Emblem, the only one that I kind of didn't like was the one on the gamecube, but that might have been because it was on the gamecube :p

Civ 2 still rules. Also, there's a RTS Age of Empires on the DS

HOMM3 is indeed great, but it's still my second place.

If Final Fantasy Tactics can be considered a TBS. Best story, best strategy, best game evar!

Similar to FFTA, but 100% anime style! Even has the whole multiple-women-loving-same-guy thing going on.

(ive never played FFTA, only seen parts of it, so I dont know the storyline to it)

I'm going for Worms Armageddon and Master Of Orion 2. Mind you the 2nd one here is so much better in my eyes.

Advance Wars 2, even if some of the commanders are terrible overpowered its still fun to play.

Some friend of mine is playing Disgaea, that's another manga style tactic game.

The storyline of FFT is so twisted and sick it's the best FF storyline ever made. Delita is THA man. Classes are almost balanced, although T.G. Cid is too strong and Summoner\Calculator class is almost invincible. The learning curve is slow to start 2-3 first fights. But once you get the hang of it, AWESOME is the only word.

You mean FF Tactics, right? Not FFTA, as in Tactics Advance which I heard is a piece of crap? (haven't played)

I didn't think TA was a piece of crap. The Tetoma were horribly overpowered, but you didn't have to use them

The Judge system was just dumb. but the judge storyline was better. They took it back in FFXII and the game lives off the Judge storyline.

The game is just slow, not responsive; you cannot gain speed (as a player) to achieve stuff faster. You build your own map ?! Seriously dumb idea. You get treasure to setup the map correctly..... why?!
Main storyline: We are in a book, let's get out. Nothing near expectation with it's predecessor being the Brave Story from FFT.

I've been a fan of FFT and I was waiting for FFTA for a long time. When it came out and I started playing it... it was like discovering that the girl you spent an entire evening with is actually a guy.

I vote for piece of crap, Montblanc and Judge Cid are the only good thing in this game.

I kill off Montblanc the moment I get to the Jagd's... >.>

I love building the map. Sure, the 'rewards' are lame, but it's nice to put cities where you want.

And I'm not sure what you mean about gaining speed....There's like Haste and stuff.

    Montblanc ;_;

I think moving cities where you want removes the solidity of lore. It's half way between "we add lame sidequest" and "create your world". It's and RPG, I'm supose to evolve a character in the world, not evolve the world.

Well I played FFT and the game is fast and responsive. FFTA is slow, everything takes a while to do. If you played FFT on PS1 and played it again on PSP you would notice the game speed has decreased. Well between FFT and FFTA the pace of the game is like twice as slow.

Techs seems to pet ennemies more than they hurt them. I think the sound effects of the cartoony world does not help for this part. Gameboy advanced has a lot more potential IMO. : /

big nods to civ, worms, and fire emblem.

You guys are missing the front mission series, Disgeia, and the big grand daddy, Final Fantasy Tactics. (But not the one for the DS. That game was a letdown imo. Never played the 2nd DS one though)

    Heres an old one, cyberstorm.

EDIT: Yes....you missed FFT.....those long posts above mine about FFT are a clear indicator.
