Actually, a bipedal combat walker is not too big of a step up from the marine power suits, it would also be effective infantry support in areas and situations where it is impossible/impractical to use larger vehicles like armoured cars and tanks.

You bring up a good point. As of this point my guess is the biggest thing that is holding us back is supplying power for it to operate without a power cord (which the current prototypes use). I bet once they figure out how to deal with that (or batteries just develop significantly over time) they will become a serious and practical tool / weapon. Kinda fun to think speculate about... :p

    Yes.
I think some of you put too much stock into how a game looks. While it is always nice to have something interesting to look at, no ammount of graphics will affect the gameplay, and that is why I play. I don't play for the pretty, I play for the fin.

That said, I think the rolling animation is fine. Why should ALL zerg fly or crawl?

It will be fine, you don't get to see those Banelings after they roll to their deaths :p

I thought the baneling should grind out the dirt to move faster.

    pardon my bad drawing

Also: why do you want to let the banelings R.I.P. (rip in peace)

At first I was against the walking animation change, but the walking animation in the battle report works. It's not as unique, but the animation looks like it fits the baneling's body build.

Overall, im impressed with the new animation.

Oh well, guess there's always a possibility of Centrifugal Hooks bringing back Baneling roll :)

Hey, that's a fair point there. Just as Zerglings get wings when their speed is upgraded, Banelings may start to roll. Not really a visual change to the model, but a visual change, other than the speed they move at, nonetheless.

Once again you are correct the speed upgrade makes them roll something I really don"t like but oh well.

They should definitely walk. How many insects do you see rolling for transportation? Most insects with large abdomens can walk pretty damn fast too.

oh quit'chur whinning. Stop being do pessimistic about the rolling. yeah, not a lot of bugs move that way but they can't exact'lycrawl that fast with their heavy load. Let sc2 be inventive, and do what would work best.

I think the best idea is the one mentioned earlier. They should walk normally whenever travelling. However when attacking they should tuck into a roll and move slightly faster, like a last, frenzied charge.

That should get the proper camikaze feeling.

I think it would actually be cool if right before its hits it rolls into the enemy but walks normally the rest of the time.
