Having trouble early game ZvP when they 4gate or 2gate robo pushes. I scout it and everything, but I still can't survive the pushes. I have enough time to get speedling, roaches, even banelings, and expo. Yet I can't defend my expo cause they FF my ramp not letting me support my army while they build a proxy pylon and keep sending reinforcements. If i early push, it never succeeds because of FF on their own ramp... Gettin really frustrated. I played 5 protoss in a row and lost all of them, all of them doing either 4gate or 2gate robo.

Would a spine wall cripple your economy? I don't know, I'm just guessing. I've never won against a well executed 4-gate either so it'd be nice to see some ideas here.

I go 14 pool 16 hatch in almost all of my p v z games. Once the pool pops I put down a spine immediately in my first base and xfer spine over to natty when it's completed to stop the two stalker pressure they do real early game sometimes. If they are going four gate I stop droning and put 3-4 total spine crawlers up in the natty and have about 20 speedlings ready (always do speedlings first 100 gas). When they attack I lead in with the queens to tank followed with lings that I try to keep behind my spines as much as possible. That usually stops it, but I'm probably not playing higher caliber toss like you.

Good luck and welcome to the forums.

I'm gonna try this due to my own 4Gate issues. Many thanks!

    Lol,

I just came back to this post and I've recently been having my own troubles with early robo play. I did my usual FE on Scrapstation and was squished rather easily.

I hear you man. Eventhough I am terran I hate FFs. The key to countering them is to already be in position in the open battle field. Stay away from walls and even your own expo. Spread your creep and set some well placed spine crawlers for defense. Do not keep your units insde your base. Be sure to have map control so you know when they attack. If they turtle up that is even better because then you can expand more.

Even hiding an army of zerglings on the side and then ambush them from behind when they arrive at your natural works very well since they will not expect it and getting a surround on them will be easy.

If they have mostly gateway units then roaches with zerglings are solid. But if you are facing immortals with stalkers then massing up the zerglings is good. Banelings are very good against zealots.
