Hey guys. I've been losing nonstop to terran after my friend learned the magical use of Thors and MM ball. Here is a replay in which he defeats and rapes all my units. I really feel that I could have won t his as I had 2 base and was playing a macro game the entire time. Could anyone else give pointers? http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/73531-1v1-terran-zerg-xelnaga-caverns
im a bronze.... so i def can't help you but that looked tough. i dont know what i would have done. its a shame bc if you only managed to hold on for a bit you would have definitely won due to his lack of income
Ouch... so hard to watch, around the 14:30-17 min mark you had litreally won that game, you started well, burrowed roaches are awsome counters to thors, When you killed his army you didnt attack his base, im so confused as to why you didnt think to attack, the worse part was, he knew ure strat, and immedtialy built medivacs, whitch you cant counter, thus winning him the game. Next time dont be so defensive, if you take out his army attack his main, i really think youd have won that if you just attacked him around the 15 min mark.
In my opinion your problem was that you...really didn't attack the force attacking you at the end. You sent roaches in, then banelings, then zerglings making all of them fairly useless. At the start you dominated his thors with roaches however you didn't keep up this strategy for some reason. If you had evolved one of your overlords near his base into an overseer you would've seen that he was still very slowly building thors but spamming medivacs meaning in a straight up fight you could run him over. Also you wasted alot of units especially banelings in a few busts where you attacked his missile turrets and marauders with them. Better to run them past or not attack at all in that case. Mutalisks are good against thors if you can keep them in their natural spread out formation (move and stop over thors). This also forces them to bring more marines in which case you bring more banelings . Ultimately you wasted too many units and controlled them poorly by not fighting as a single mass. Its alright to not be agressive but you have to keep scouting your opponent. Heres a game I played a few hours ago, quite a messy game. Enemy went to thors after I started getting mutas...doesn't really show how to counter them since it was a bit situational...but hey it kinda demonstrates what to do if your a more defensive zerg player. http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/73668-1v1-terran-zerg-lost-temple#rd:dna and it also shows why not to split up your zerglings from your main force even if they are fully upgraded :S
The only problem with attacking his main right after his army is down is that sometimes I know he queues up marines and marauders behind the wall of his waiting to rape by units
There were moments where you should have forced some more transitions or expansions. If you do not wan't to be aggressive, that is OK if you take something away when you destroy his army or change yours slightly to compensate. Since you beat his army with a certain mix, he naturally will make the counter to whatever beat him the first time. So just take that knowledge of what would work best against your army and prepare for it. That way you can keep beating up on his armies without worrying about him making an unstoppable mix. Also, taking total map control helps you keep him in check, if you see that he isn't moving around too much, keep expanding. Then you would have had even more money, which leads to even better tech and more units. But yeah, letting him get that money mix hurt a lot
I disagree slightly, better scout if he is countering your army, often they just build the same units again and tech up a bit. Be safe and scout and keep him in check while expanding when your minerals get high. And don't forget to get that vespin gas from expansions, it's so important, I often forget to take the geysers. You really need gas for everything except basic structures, overlords drones and zerglings. (this list got longer than I'd have thought )
yes they usually will, but you still had alot of ure army left, 4 marines every X seconds isnt going to beat them, you should have been microing more roaches to follow ure army and youd have won from there, check the replay at the 15 min mark, look at his non exsistent army and look at ures, then tell me you wouldnt have won I see a trend where people think that if you play terran you must not try and take out his choke, this is really silly, 1 depot will die in about 3 seconds to any decent unit, then ure free in his base, problem solved .
