You mean the bodysnatch? Interesting.. Bu they should limit it, cause mutas could just kill out whole squadrons without shooting :)
Or the other races should get something to prevent the muta grabbing them. Maybe an upgrade of soni waves, which drive the mutas away. I think this could bew in the game too.
Nice find man, you deserve a

The Hydralisk looks so friggin ugly! The design is horrible, it looks like a cute little worm toy.
The SC2 Hydra better not look like that.

Bodysnatch sounds interesting if implemented correctly, but the muta might be too massable.
Besides, it already got the bouncy worm. Maybe another Zerg AtG could do that.

The ability may stop players from ONLY massing them since you would have to individually click them but the dumb auto-cast kinda messes that up...

Lol GMG I feel you, the rendering and overall design makes me sick. Doesn't look very professional. But remember they was only in early development of that game and that was probably a foundation design for better things to come. I'll be pissed if they design the Zerg to be all bulky n stuff.

The abilities all seem kinda meh to me. Clustered Zerglings in SC did their job well because there were simply too many to target, so the "Bloodlust" is really already there.

I really can't invision the claw attack for the hydralisk. It always was ranged unit, and i can't see it using claws without some ripoff of the Zealot's Charge ability.

We can assume Infested Terrans will lose the suicide ability. In some of the books, Infested Terrans have had spine-shooting organs in their chests. Maybe this could be used as a timed ability on them, with claw attacks as the norm.

Bodysnatch does sound interesting. The big questions that come to my mind are "Does it kill instantly? How much HP does it take from the enemy? How much HP does it give back to the mutalisk?"

edit; i just though of this as i hit the post button what if the blood lust thing was kida like the marines stim pack make the zlings own for a short time

Someone already strongly discussed the Zerglings getting a power boost when in a large group, but the factor is Zerglings will operate more effectivly in large groups anyway so it would be imba in sc2.

but most often they still get slaughtered very easily from enough heavy tier units like siege tanks, also a horde of zergling cant really do anything against a well defended base. photon canons kills tehm easily. maybe this aura ability will solve the problem. ^^

10 pack of zergling increases their attack and movement speed by one. 20 will add 2 more.. wow! just imagine how cool they will be like.

Just quickly, I'm just commenting on how these could work in both StarCraft2 and StarCraft:Ghost. I'm aware that Ghost has been canceled, but after all, that's what these abilities were designed for.
Zergling; The model just looks wrong. It is completely disproportionate and looks feeble. StarCraft2's model is much better.
Claw attack; Just plain essential in both Ghost and StarCraft2. Can't have a Zergling without a melee attack.
Burrow ability; Also essential. I don't see it working as well in Ghost as I do in StarCraft2. Zerglings wouldn't unburrow until you're on top of them and by then it should pretty much be too late.
Bloodlust; I can easily see this working in StarCraft2, but if you're in combat with a group of clustered Zerglings, why does it matter if they've got a damage bonus or not?
Health Regeneration; Again, works in StarCraft2, because there are often damaged survivors of previous battles that need regeneration, but when would Zerglings ever get that chance in Ghost?
Hydralisk; Like the Zergling, it's also disproportionate. It doesn't look strong and needs to lose some weight.
Projectile Spine Attack; Seeing as the Hydralisk is the main ranged Zerg unit, it cannot not have this attack. I dunno how a single Ghost would fare up against a few of these though.
Claw attack; It specifies it as a powerful melee attack indicating that it's a stronger attack that the spines or the Zergling. I'm not sure I agree with this. I could see that Hydralisk involving its claws in melee combat, but why would it stop using the attack it's evolved for? Also, perhaps, just like the Saber Toothed Tiger's fangs, these claws are also extremely brittle. It would certainly explain why they didn't use them in StarCraft1.
Burrow; Great in StarCraft2, not in Ghost. Zerg uses burrow for ambushes and a lone Ghost shouldn't be able to survive one.
Health Regeneration; Just like the Zergling.
Infested Terran; I love the visuals of the cracked visor, shoulder and thigh, but the infestation as a whole looks a touch odd. To begin with, I don't agree with the Infestation having it's own foot. It's still able to use the Marine's other foot alright, so why did it need to grow that?
Infested Gauss Rifle; Why does the Infestation infect the bullets as well? The Infested Terran's long range attack should just be that of an inaccurate and slow-firing Marine.
Suicide Explosion; Like many of the other abilities, I don't see this working in Ghost. Basically if you get into melee with this, you, and everyone around you, are gone. If they have such a powerful suicide attack they'd be such high priority targets, and would get shot down before they have the chance. Infested Terran don't really work for StarCraft2 either. They worked in StarCraft1, but by now the enemy should know to take them out at all costs, so any more time wasted with this thread of Zerg evolution is wasted.
Health Regeneration; Just like the Zergling and Hydralisk.
Mutalisk; This model also doesn't cut it for me. It was hard to completely make out the old one, but it still looked compatible, unlike this one. I love the new StarCraft2 Mutalisk though, and couldn't be more happy with it.
Bio-plasma Projectile; Why did they remove the Glave Wyrm?! The Glave Wyrm was a much more unique and iconic mechanic than splash damage ever will be. They both do the same thing in essense, so why change from bounce to splash?
Bodysnatch Attack; I can easily picture the Mutalisk doing this, but I don't think that it should absorb it's life. I'm not sure how it'd go if it was implemented into StarCraft2, but my initial thought is against it. Mutalisks were meant to be made in numbers. If Mutalisks can now just instantly kill any small unit and take its life, then their numbers should be culled, which is something that I definitely don't want to see happen.

    EDIT: Formatting.

Have you noticed in Blizzard games, the cinematic character designs are amazing (excluding Sc1 but then again that was 10 years ago) cuz we've all seen the starcraft ghost cinematics and they just blew my mind, the Mutalisks in the cinematic are just perfect compared to the bulky ugly Mutalisks we see today in Sc2.

    Cinematic video
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=8xqqnTVSl_0

Heres a gameplay video from Sc: Ghost; 1:00 for Hydralisk attack scene

    Zerglings attack

In other words, StarCraft: Ghost will be amazing once they re-work it. I think they might have delayed it as it would be more worthwhile to finish Sc2 so you could impliment part of the story into Ghost such as Hybrids and Xel'naga

I heard it was canceled because the drivers, etc, that they were using became heavily outdated, and something happened with their design team.
I don't see how you can hate the StarCraft2 Mutalisks. If there is one unit design I'm happy with, it's them.
Lastly, I hope they never make a StarCraft FPS. Blizzard has always made RTS's, which are always awesome, and one risky RPG, which luckily turned out to be great. They need to stick to that they're good at.

I know it was never finished but those footages show absolutely cr*p gameplay. By that I mean models, animation, mechanics (especially that really cheap method of execution).

All Mutalisks shown in the cinematics are sleek and sexy, the current Mutalisk model is bulky with armor plates and spikes everywhere. Since when does a air born swarmer have heavy armor along with spikes everywhere. That would hinder their ability to cluster greatly (lorewise) and any biological unit which flies naturally has to be light for effective flight.
Why do you like the current Sc2 Mutalisk design?

I agree that the current model for the Mutalisk in SC2 does look a bit bulky, and should be slimmed down a bit. I also hope that it in the end it will look more like the concept art, because the mutalisks in that picture are dead sexy.

i think its just in game... the wings makes it look bulky. the viking is bulky too in game but im sure it is not lorewise.

i think they will redo starcraft ghost and try to make it look and play like halo. lol

same type of gameplay? i wouldn't want that, that would be boring and not new. i for one consider starcraft 2 a new game and expecting new and innovative game play mechanics and feel. =)

yes i want sc2 to be better than sc2 not equal.

It all depends on what you consider "the same gameplay." Do I think the general gamplay will be the same? Yes. There will just me a lot more tactics to try with the new units.

And I totaly agree with Zergalicious, the SC2 mutalisk should look as much like that artwork as possible. ;D
