When you reach an upper tier structure, you can enable research for an upgrade for the Hydralisk called the Tyranolisk, its like a hydralisk except its as big as a tyranosaurus rex dinosaur (its 30 feet tall). It has a slow acting but very long range (same range as goliath charon boosters from the origina) ground to air- ground to ground attack which is like a giant hydralisk spine attack, except its larger green/blackish and does a small and reasonable amount of splash damage. Its high armor and has the longest range of any ground non-siege unit in the game. The Tyranolisk is especially powerful against air, with the stackable splash useful against small air units and the direct attack very effective against larger capital ships. Its downside is that its a little slower than a hydra and is very vulnerable to most melee aggressors and can be overwhelmed by other units. If your rich you can mass your hydra army into these late game and you have a new "backbone" to your army, paired with mass lings and the new ultralisk the Tyranolisk is a force to reckoned with!

The Tyranolisk has 550 hp and costs 150/150 to upgrade from Hydralisk form.

    ;D

They could be if they went to Earth and somehow assimilated the DNA. But wait, how far it was to Earth again?

btw. the only dinosaur'ish features of this concept are name and size, it's still Hydralisk.

Yea I didn't mean it was a dinosaur, just sorta resembles one. Also Tyranolisk sounds pretty cool.

I like the idea for a tyranolisk and it would have been better if you'ved found a much better way to introduce this unit idea, but sad to say ^_^ its like more of a "jurrasic illusion" ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ hahaha

btw i have to disagree with LT with his comment on zerg are not dinosaurs.. coz we all know that zerg can choose whatever species they want to evolve into and analyzing their way of living,, its not too far for them to assimilate dino type species like the t-rex, especially becoz it is one of the most dominant species then... its not just earth that can be lived by dinosaurs,, its a billion possibility coz the universe is enormous giving the plain comment on what the zerg should be could not be justified easily coz they are the most dynamic race of all IMO.... i know LT just wants to say what is the zerg right now,, but there is always a million possibilities for zerg and SC universe so its more of an open ended road for the zerg on my thoughts, right???

but anyways the idea of evolution from a hydralisk to a tyranolisk is way off... just by the way a dino is born, it should be hatched from an egg, secondly hydras are more like arachnid/insect specie and a reptile like the t-rex is way off bound the evolution course ^_^

if there will be a tyranolisk,, i rather see it as an evo for ultralisk coz it makes more sense evolving into something big from something big ^_^ its a nice imagination anyway prodigal

So in other words it's the same exact size as the original hydralisk? Yay.

I can see it now. some Marines walk up to an egg and poke it with a stick. next thing they nkow, this 30 foot beast emerges and emerges and emerges........ finally hatching from the egg. They are like " wtf" and then get stepped on. ahahaha good stuff.

K LOL, first, the hydralsik would probably be leik, 12 feet tall, cuz protoss are about 9 feet tall, and in the cinematic where fenix gets killed in first starcraft, you can clearly see that the hydralisk is alot bigger than fenix, second, about the hatching thing, would the giant 30 foot (it looked like that in the starcraft ghost trailer) ultralisk look weird when hatching out aof a 5 foot egg?

    IMO

it would only be 12 feet tall because t-rex's are only 12 to 15 feet tall its a common misconception that they are 30 or 40 feet tall but there not

The largest recorded T-rex, "Sue," measures 12.8 meters long (43 ft) and 4 meters (13 ft) high at the hips.

The misconception arises because original T. Rex's were thought to stand erect, but we now know that they held their bodies horizontally, with the head level with the hips and tail.

precisly, they weren't big hunters either, they were scavengers they would just scare smaller animals away. they did hunt occasionaly but. they weren't able to run very fast. so they stole the prey instead

Ok ok...so the T-rex height thing was a bad comparison. I mean geez I studied Dinosaurs alot when I was a little kid, and that was the late 80's...I remember they would always find out that they were reconstructing skeletons of dinos incorrectly and would cross species bones...like remember when their used to be a Brontosaurus?

Is this a T-Rex topic or a topic about a new unit. ;)

I think we need to get back on topic with this one or lock it.

Well darkone I don't think that matters so much. He's talking about a hydralisk the size of a T-rex, not an actual T-rex.
