Zerg-Protoss Hybrids

I think that they will be a plot point, and some tough-ass NPCs, but not as a playable race. That's definitely out.

From the article: "The panel also confirmed that the sequel will have only the three factions of the Protoss, Terrans, and Zerg; there will be no fourth faction."

I also saw the video of the discussion, and they said that while the Hybrids and Xel'Naga might play a role in the game, they will not be player-controllable races.

 

Then they might be like warcraft 3's Naga! An unplayable race you must deafeat!

Unplayable in normal game, but what if it is playable in custom map setting game ?? ;D

 

Why? In wcIII you could play with naga and burning legion too in some custom games. You could even play with gnolls if you fucking wanted. Its just some creativity with the map editor you will need.

 

No it will be possible, the will be a world editer, the hybrids will make an apperance(THEY MUST), and world editer lets you place any unit in the game onto a home-made map.

 

Of course, modders + map editor + art tools = Hybrid playable race, just like the Naga. Back when the Frozen Throne was released I started to scour the map databases for a good Naga map. I didn't find any good ones so I started to make one myself. I still have it stored on my very old comp's hard drive. Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Hybrids in maps!

I just hope that this time Blizzard will include an option in the editor to actually add a playable race in the race selection screen instead of making you have to replace one completely. Any modders among us interested?

 

i bet that there will be a hybrid unit, because the zerg probably assimilated the dragoons on auir. how kickass would it be to have a hydralisk/dragoon?

but if we get a modders + map editor + art tools and get the Hybrids as playable, imagine how unbalanced the game would be??

 

Well preferably they'll do at least SOME balancing work done for it. If they're smart enough to make their own editor, then a little hp/shield/damage/cost tweaking shouldn't o too hard.

 

The protoss/zerg known as hybrid,would probably be played a mission or two,like in war3TFT( like Ilidan and his naga),but there is a very low chance for that...30%,or even lower,as for the mystical Xel'Naga,they will not be playeble at all,or at least i think...

 

The following pictuere has many zerg features but also a bit of protoss like features, look at this eyes.
But the most important thing, I see a shield. People I think the hybrid has a face!

Honestly, we haven't seen all Zerg units yet, so we can't really guess for sure about what it is. It might be just a Hunter Killer... ???

 

Yea, thats not a hybrid. I dont see any protoss features on it. And that "sheild" you say, is part of that blast that hit the poor thing :'( But that is still a kick ass picture! :thumbup:

 

It's definitely a hydralisk, but who's attacking it? reaper? collosus?

 

If i didnt hear the way dragoons have changed i'd say it was a dragoon

Ok I was reading up on the history of all the races and the likes, and the Zerg take into their ranks the strongest races to make new units or whatever, and they just annihilate weak races. So my question is, because they infested the Dragoon place on Aiur, will there be a Dragoon-type Zerg unit?

Also, dunno if that's a shield or just the blast from the attack, but still, cool picture!

 

maybe, i would prefer infested reavers, big slug like things that can roll into a shell, those would be cool.

 

How can it be a Dragoon? The Dragoon is just a mechanical exoskeleton for wounded Protoss soldiers. You can't absorb something that isn't really alive. That'd be like the Zerg absorbing a Marine's gun and henceforth being able to produce Gunlings...
