With the Zerg moving to assimilate only the most impressive and useful species of planets into the swarm, it makes you wonder what the Zerg do to a planet that contains species that are regarded as unimpressive and useless. They unleash the previously unseen Planet Eater upon the world. The Zerg Planet Eater is a colossal entity made only for the destruction of a planet that offers nothing of value to the swarm. It begins by burrowing huge tendrils into the planet's core and starts a long process of absorption, ridding the planet of its vital core elements.

This absorption process empties and weakens the planet and in effect, the Zerg Planet Eater whittles it a fragile shell of what it used to be. The planet will no longer be able to support life and the Zerg Planet Eater will soon die off from a state of extreme hunger resulting from lack of essential elements that the world no longer possesses over a prolonged period.

The Zerg Planet Eater is created by a vast number of Zerg larvae combining together to achieve the genetic sequence required. The Zerg Planet Eater matures at a slightly faster rate then that of a similar colossal entity known formerly as the Overmind. It is also genetically limited to prevent it from becoming a sentient entity so as to pose little threat to the Overmind's psionic control of the Zerg Swarms.

I thought it would be cool to toss an idea around for a Zerg ultimate unit, what do you guys think about it?

I actually got the influence from "The Big Tick" from Ben 10 and yes, Galactus. It totally suits the Zerg.

Reminds me of the Tyranids in 40k.

'Game over! Enemy used planet eater'
I think you wouldnt want to use that in a game, I even think that a species like the zerg is much better of colonising a planet, they have building like lifeforms for a reason.

This would not be a good in game thing.

"The Zerg ate the planet. You lose"
that would be more dreaded than "Nuclear Launch Detected"

Technically they would lose too. Everyone would lose. And it would be a draw.

Or, like the mothership's planet cracker, the ability would be massively scaled down.

It's the kinda thing that would be in the novels, but no games.

Its a very unoriginal idea but maybe it could be like a wonder in age of empires, is you actually manage to get enough larvae and time to build this thing its an autowin.

You would not be able to as it would probably take a huge amount of resources and a lot of time to build, plus it is too ultimate.

The Planet Eater is something that I thought could be placed into some story, I just decided to put it in this forum instead of the StarCraft 2 Story and Races board. So right on Fenix! :D

    Really interesting.
    Although i gotta admit:
I dunno about you, but this sounds really reminiscient of FF7 in my ears... or eyes.

Anyways, have a  for the creativity and well-detailed description. :p
